We are in a war against an enemy that is hell-bent on our destruction.  They want to kill you, your family, and destroy your way of life.  They despise everything about you and want you dead unless you convert to their peaceful and tolerant religion.  On 9/11/2001, this country experienced something more horrific than Pearl Harbor, and the threat of something worse happening is very real.  The media, and some politicians, treat the war in Iraq as a separate war instead of recognizing it for what it is - the major battlefield on the entire war this country is in.  People in America want to whine and complain and protest...but that won't change the minds of the enemy that wants us dead.  We are in a very real war, and we have been barely inconvenienced.  We haven't had to ration sugar, silk, or metal.  We haven't been urged to plant victory crops or buy war bonds.  We have an all volunteer military made up by thousands of men and women with more guts and character than I will probably ever have.  9/11 should have been a day where this country came together, yet six years later it's more divided than I can ever remember in my lifetime.  It doesn't matter if you're on the left or right, the enemy hates you and wants you dead.  It doesn't matter if you think we caused 9/11 and created the hatred in the middle east for this country, the enemy hates you and wants you dead.  It doesn't matter if we pull all the troops out of the middle east, the enemy hates you and wants you dead.  And it doesn't matter if you think Bush is Hitler, the enemy hates you and wants you dead.  Until those of you who want to play like it's 1968 and think it's cool to protest and stand up to "the man" wake up, you are helping the enemy and aiding the destruction of every freedom you have to protest.  I hope you can sleep at night knowing that.
