...oh when the Saints go marching home! YES!!! I have a team I can truly pull for in The Super Bowl this year!!!! I am not one of these bandwagonners, I like The Bears. When I was a kid, Walter Payton was one of my boyhood idols...I loved watching him play and he was just a great guy...completely unselfish. And then The Bears got Jim MacMahon...one of my favorite players of all time. In fact, I've got two door-sized posters of the guy from when I was younger. He was cocky, brash, and arrogant, but in a cool way. He injected a lot of personality into a very blue-collar team. Man I'll never forget watching Walter Payton's last game. I was at work and brought my dad's small TV and set it up in the office. I kept running back there all afternoon to watch the game...and when The Bears lost and Walter was sitting on the bench with his head in his hands is an image I'll never forget. Payton was THE greatest running back to ever play the game and that is not up for debate. No one combined speed, power, and finesse the way sweetness did. It's a shame more players don't conduct themselves like Payton did...he was a pure class act. I'll never forget a few years back watching the press conference where he went public with his liver disease and just asked for prayers as he broke into tears. And when he died...I'll admit it, I cried. Ok, enough sadness...it's time to CELEBRATE!!!! I don't give a crap about the Saints making New Orleans feel better after Katrina and all that...I really don't. I HATE that team. They've been division rivals with my beloved Atlanta Falcons for a long time and I can't stand them. Hey, sports transcends all...hahaha. Anyway, not only was it awesome to see them lose, but to know that The Bears are going to knock Manning's teeth out in The Super Bowl is a wonderful feeling. Manning becomes a baby when he gets pressure put on him, and Urlacher and company will make sure that will happen. I do know this...next weekend will SUCK! Why? Because it's two weeks until The Super Bowl so there is NO football next weekend. Sadly, a small taste of things to come. At least "Saw III" comes out on DVD this week...so I may wait until next weekend to watch it and ease the pain...hahaha. Oh, speaking of horror movies, I have to say that the unrated version of "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre - The Beginning" is an absolute masterpiece. The stuff that was added back in REALLY enhanced the movie and I swear it was better this second time. But back to football, THE BEARS ARE GOING TO THE SUPERBOWL!!!! And here's a little bonus for my faithful readers - a shot of me happy as heck in my Dick Butkus jersey as Rex Grossman walks through the crowd after the win...

Speaking of The Super Bowl (am I the king of segues or what!), that night NoiseCult will be in-studio guests on 102.9 FM here in Nashville. Yep, Sunday night, February 4th, we will be on The Local Buzz from 9 to 10 so tune in! I'm sure this won't be the last time I mention it...hahaha.
As you all know, I've done a lot of things in my life. I've written a book, co-wrote and acted in an indie horror film, ran for the U.S. Senate, was a radio DJ and sports broadcaster, am the lead singer of a metal band...but in 2007 I knew I needed a new challenge and it came to me the other night. We had a "voluntary" work late night, which basically means you work late, and as I was driving home I came up with a new hobby to pursue - create a comic book. Now I don't want to release a lot of details because every time I come up with a good idea it seems to get stolen. Don't believe me? Check this story out. When I live in Austin, Texas several years ago, I was talking one night on the phone with a buddy of mine that lives here. We were talking about wrestling videogames and came up with an idea to make a game featuring the legends of the "sport". The premise would be that you choose a wrestler from the past and start on a local circuit, then work your way through different territories like it was back in the 70's and 80's. The game would feature tons of classic wrestlers with an old-school feel to the game. Well, it just so happened that Acclaim was located in Austin and had just lost their contract doing the WWE games, so we came up with an idea to pitch this concept to them since they already had a reputation making wrestling games. We planned the game out with the details and what we would need to present it...and then one night I saw an article on a videogame website where Acclaim announced they were developing a new game called "Legends of Wrestling" and it contained all the ideas me and Jason had come up with. What I honestly think happened was one night I was at dinner with a buddy of mine in Austin, and I remember telling him all about the idea. Someone from Acclaim had to have been there and overheard it all. I'm not being paranoid, and I can say that because they used the name we came up with along with the whole structure of how the game would work. Of course the game sucked and that's because I had no input since the idea was STOLEN! But since I can't prove it, oh well. That's why I'm keeping my comic idea to myself until I really start to develop it and get to the point where I think it's good enough to secure a copyright. I can say this, my superhero is based on all the factors that I dig - fueled by tragedy and revenge with superhuman strength. I have his origin and some possible arch-enemies in mind, so you'll have to stay tuned to see where this goes. Yes, a new project to get into this year along with everything else.
You see, I have to keep myself mentally
busy, because if I don't then I sit around and dwell on garbage like Nancy
Pelosi being the friggin speaker of the house when she's about as smart
as a doorknob, and also the fact the Bush is going to address global warming
in the State of the Union speech this week when the midwest has been crippled
by a winter storm and it snowed in Malibu of all places. Oh, and
the "rising superstar" Barack Obama is looking to run for President when
he hasn't done a friggin thing EVER. AAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!
These "leaders" we have are such jokes. Wait...stop...football.....oh
yeah. I can focus on my second favorite team in the NFC going to
The Super Bowl...calm down. Yes, I did hear about Michael Vick's
incident in Miami this week and I refuse to comment on it...hahahaha....and
now back to listening to some Jimi Hendrix....
