I don't get it. I feel like Howard the Duck - trapped in a world I didn't create sometimes. So let me get this straight, one of the most ruthless dictators in our lifetime has his neck snapped at the gallows and there's controversy??? When I heard the news Saddam was dead, I couldn't wait to get online to read more about it because if there's one bastard that deserved to die it's him. And now less than a week later there is controversy...can you believe this crap? First, Jesse Jackson was saying we shouldn't execute him...whatever...just shut up. Next, there were protests because the execution took place on some Muslim holy day. Ok, I've got several things to say about this....
First off, we should show no respect for these "holy days". Why should we? They never do. Do they stop killing people and blowing themselves up in a market when it's some holy day? Nope. Yet those who oppose them do something on these holy days and all of the sudden they get offended. Screw 'em. Another thing...and correct me if I'm wrong...but wasn't one of the big arguments that Saddam had nothing to do with Al Qaida was because he wasn't a Muslim fundamentalist and would therefore not side with Osama Bin Laden? Well then why in the HELL would anyone give a crap if he was executed on some Muslim holy day if he didn't adhere to the religion of the terrorists? It boggles my mind. And now...we get people who are actually saying his execution was disrespectful and crap like that because he was being taunted. WHAT THE HELL??? Yeah, I watched the cell phone video and smiled the whole time knowing this bastard of pure evil was going to get his neck snapped...but "taunting" him was somehow wrong??? According to an AP story, 2 guards and some other guy who were at the execution have been arrested. Why? Because they "taunted the former leader and shot the video showing his body dangling at the end of a rope" if you can believe this bs. My brain is seriously hurting trying to piece all this together and actually understand it. So there's a madman dictator who put women in rape rooms, smiled and joke on camera while people had limbs cut off, threw people into wood-chippers and would watch the videos at home with his sons, yet yelling out some names at him when he's about to hang is somehow wrong??? What the hell is wrong with people??? I don't get it...and I don't want to. The bastard is dead and gone and will never be able to have another innocent woman raped or have somebody's hands cut off while he laughs on camera. He deserved MORE humiliation than what he got. In fact, have you ever seen the photos of what the people of Italy did to Benito Mussolini? That was child's play compared to what Saddam deserved. I have no clue how ANYONE could have one friggin ounce of compassion.
Let me put it this way...because I know a lot of people my age and younger have no clue what it means to put your life on the line for freedom. My grandparents moved here two weeks ago because my mom wanted them closer so she could help take care of them. It's great...I haven't seen them in a long time and after everything my mom has battled this past year with cancer, it really shows me how strong my parents are because they have been through a lot....I know I've talked about how my dad is a no bs guy and my mom is a VERY strong person as well. Anyway, I was visiting my grandparents this past weekend, and I asked my grandfather if he saw Saddam died. Now my grandfather was in the Pacific in World War II against the Japanese...and I may have mentioned it before...but I have his World War II victory medal framed and hanging on my wall. It is honestly one of my most prized possessions. He was happy...he told me he was smiling when he read the morning paper about Saddam being hung. You know why? Because he was a young man who had to leave his wife and kids to go fight against madmen back in the 1940's and he knows you can't reason with them, you can only exterminate them. We then started talking about people being "offended" this happened on some holy day...and like he said, when it comes to a war the enemy has NEVER respected anything about us so why should we do the same? I couldn't agree more.
So there's a man who is responsible for the deaths of HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of people in some extremely barbaric ways, and NEVER showed one bit of remorse or regret...and we're supposed to give a crap if he was "disrespected" when he was dangling from the end of a rope? What the hell is wrong with people. I thought they should have just dropped him into an area controlled by the Kurds and let them do whatever they wanted...but there I go being a "hate-monger". Sorry I don't feel any pity for a modern day Hitler.
I am so thankful that our current media
wasn't around during World War II...otherwise we'd all be speaking German
or Japanese. People really need to grow up and realize that there
is evil...and it needs to be extinguished without pity.
