Election 2004

Believe it or not sportsfans, I'm a little torn this week.  You might be asking yourself "Gee Bo, why?  didn't your boy win the election?" and I would say "yes he did...but I'm still torn".  Here's why - I want this week's stuff to not be demeaning or rub people's noses in anything...I really don't.  the reason is, I know if Bush lost I would feel like utter crap right now and possibly be questioning my existence.  The reason I don't want to gloat is because I do know many people that voted for Kerry, some I'm close to.  One of my best friends for about 12 years voted for Kerry...when it comes to politics we may disagree but that doesn't mean I don't think of the dude like a brother, you know?  So I really don't want to beat anyone while they're down....except a few...and I'll explain why.  First off, I think disagreement and varying opinions is what makes this country great.  The freedom we have to question our government is awesome...and I never want it to change.  I think it kicks ass that every four years people can vote on who they want running the country seeing how that's how everything was set up to begin with.  It may not be perfect, but to quote Ric Flair "It's the best thing going today".  I have my opnions, others have theirs, and that's really cool.  Even if I disagree with someone, as long as they are being honest about where they are coming from and why they feel the way they do, I can respect that.  What I DON'T respect is lies.  I hate blatant lying to serve a personal agenda with a passion...especially when it involves something as important as a Presidential race.

Before I continue, I do want to say one thing.  I am not a supporter of John Kerry obviously, but I will give him credit.  Kerry could have easily taken the vote count in Ohio to the courts and replayed the 2000 election all over...but he didn't.  John Kerry knew that even after the votes were finished in Ohio, he wouldn't emerge the victor and made his concession speech.  Not only do I respect the fact that he didn't drag America into further turmoil by tying up the election in the courts...but there is something else.  I watched his concession speech, and he literally got choked up at one time thanking everyone who supported him.  I have a pretty good knack of spotting crocodile tears (probably because I'm so cynical), and Kerry's weren't.  In fact, here's another little tidbit I heard about John Kerry this week.  Remember when it was like 3 in the morning and John Edwards came out announcing that all the votes would be counted and everything?  From the report I heard, Edwards wanted to go out and announce they were going to fight this with their team of lawyers.  John Kerry told him to go out there, say what he did, and get some sleep...the supposed reason why Edwards looked pissed off.  The next morning, Edwards was trying to sell Kerry on the fact they could take it to the courts because the lawyers were there and ready to go.  You know what John Kerry did?  He said no.  Kerry knew the votes weren't there and told everyone that he wasn't about to put America through all that.  You know what?  I gained a lot of respect for the guy hearing about that.  I may disagree with him politically, but as a person I did gain some respect.  See, over the last few weeks I've heard a lot of interviews with people that know John Kerry personally and they all have said he's a really good guy...and some of these people even disagree with him politically...but they all say he's a good guy.  It boggled my mind that they would say this...it really did.  I would be thinking "how can you say that when all he does is trash George Bush???", but then it hit me.  While Kerry may view things differently then Bush, the hate and the venom wasn't coming from him...it was coming from the radical left.  Here's my point:  Kerry made a pretty strong showing....but thanks to the radical left his campaign was doomed.

Personally I do think Bush had enough merit to warrant a second term...I've made that obvious....and I honestly thought in my heart that he would be re-elected.  However I think it would have been much closer if it hadn't been for people like George Soros, Michael Moore, Al Gore, and Howard Dean.  Those guys ruined any chance Kerry had...they really did.  Why?  One simple word - negativity.  People don't want to vote for the negative as a whole...they want something positive...something to believe in.  So you get fatass Michael Moore with "Fahrenheit 911" spewing his hatred for Bush, and if that isn't enough, he claims that Kerry isn't the best person either but is better than Bush.  If he's trying to get Kerry elected, then why trash the guy?  Makes no sense to me.  Then you've got George Soros...multi-billionaire (so I'm sure he understands the common man) heading up MoveOn.org and claiming he would spend every penny to keep Bush from getting re-elected and paid for a lot of advertising that was hateful.  Then you've got his cohort Al Gore screaming about how George Bush betrayed this country and played on our fears.  And lastly you've got Howard Dean throwing out there this idea that Bush knew about 9/11 ahead of time and let it happen for political reasons.  I believe this had a two-fold effect: 1) I think it turned some people off of John Kerry because of all the negativity...and 2) I think it gave firepower to people to vote for Bush to squash this kind of mentality.  These guys are so selfish that they couldn't look at the big picture...everything they were doing was for a personal agenda.  Honestly, Michael Moore only cares about one thing and that's himself.  He is a vile and disgusting person.  Why do I say this?  Did you see his commentary where he thought it was amusing that Osama Bin Laden referenced his BS documentary in Bin Laden's latest videotape?  Imagine if in World War II if someone had made a movie about FDR letting Pearl Harbor happen to force America into war and Hitler used that information in speeches.  What do you think would happen to that person if they lived in America?  I don't think they'd be raking in the dough and living in a posh pad in New York...that's for sure.  Hey...I'm all for the right to free speech...but having that right doesn't always make it the "right" thing to do, you know?  The fact that anyone who lives here and profits off the very system he bitches about, and then has the audacity to think it's a little amusing that someone references his movie who wants me...my family...my friends...and my very way of life destroyed absolutely appalls me.  Yet sadly for Kerry supporters this idiot was associated with John Kerry's campaign.  Same thing with George Soros....this guy spent a TON of money funding indpependent ads that were FILLED with BS.  Add Gore and Dean to the mix, and the average American is going to see all this and associate it with John Kerry.  People don't want to vote for the negative...they want positive...they want hope for a better tomorrow.  Again, I'm not saying that everyone who voted for Kerry bought into the BS these morons were spewing at all...because I do know of many people that wanted Kerry in office because they either agreed with his position or had no faith in Bush and wanted a change....but I guarantee you that the hate campaign these dudes put on did sway people.  So what's my point?   Here it is -

To Michael Moore....and I hope you read and respond to the email I sent you...you selfish idiot....

To George Soros...nice to think that all that money you wasted could have gone to something positive....

To Al Gore...you lost in 2000 man, get over it...offer constructive criticism and new ideas and maybe people would listen....

To Howard Dean...where in the hell do you get off even trying to hint that Bush let 9/11 happen....

To Dan Rather who had the audacity to run a BS story right before the election....

To all you radicals who have become the perceived face of the Democratic Party....you blew it!  In your friggin FACE!!!  Every action you took had the exact opposite effect of what it was supposed to do so screw all of you.  I'm not gloating...I'm not...all I'm trying to say is that this small group of idiots really screwed everything up for the people that truly supported their candidate.  And here's another tidbit.  Last summer I was telling a friend of mine my theory - that theory was that Bill Clinton would somehow get involved and sabotage Kerry's chances.  Now why would he do this?  Because if Kerry was elected then it would be very difficult for Hillary to run in 2008.  So what happened?  The old Clinton campaign people got involved with Kerry over the summer and after that it was literally bad decision after bad decision.  The photo ops, the debate points, everything.  That combined with the Michael Moore type idiots ruined any chance Kerry had.  See, I hate extremism on either side...whether its the "blame America first" morons of the left or the "right to life yet shoot abortion doctors" of the right.  This time for the Democrats, there were way too many prominent figures who weren't really in the party who's faces people attached to the Democratic party.  Why do you also think Republicans gained as many Congressional seats as they did?  The American public didn't buy into Michael Moore's BS and lies and turned out in record numbers to defeat the extremists like him because that's who people as a whole associated with the Democratic party.

Seriously, I am not trying to rub any of the true Democrat supporters face in anything.  I only say this because if you want to save your party, you need to do everything you can to distance yourselves from fatass Michael Moore, George Soros, and people like that...they only care about one thing and that's themselves.  We all know how nasty this election was, and America really deserves better then that.  Let's all try to make sure that in 2008 the only real issues discussed are just the issues and the ideas of how to handle them.  That's what we all deserve.  We all deserve the chance to hear the discussion from different sides without having it coated in agenda driven lies.  That's how it's all supposed to work.  I vote based on my core beliefs - God, family, security, and the belief tthat this country affords opportunites...you just have to be ready to stand up to the challenge.  I believe that ANYONE in this country can achieve their heart's desires as long as they are willing to work hard for them....that is true freedom.  I believe that America truly tries to do what is morally right when it takes action.  I believe in the principles this country was founded upon...that all people yearn to be free and have a voice in the positive welfare of this country.  I don't believe in people abusing the right of free speech to fill their pockets or serve a personal agenda...and thankfully America as a whole is smarter then that.  I was talking to my dad last weekend about the 1968 election and was wondering how a Republican like Richard Nixon won the election during the middle of the Vietnam War.  He reminded me of the protests and riots that happened in Chicago during the Republican convention that year, and how the nation witnessed a few radicals representing the Democratic party and how the nation was disgusted by it.  Here we are in 2004 and it appears history repeated itself.  I'm going to finish with something John Kerry said in his concession speech...he said that there are no losers in a Presidential election, because when we all wake up the next day, we all wake up as Americans.  Very well said Senator, very well said.

Next week...no politics...just funny and strange events and witty banter that you have all come to know as The Rum & Coke Buzz...promise.
