Welcome, If you have a few moments and like SF, you'll be glad you came.
'Startopia' is a great game if you like to have a goal other than shooting at and blowing up bunch of stuff. Lots of variations and options make for hours of satisfying space opera. 'Star Trek' games: 'Creator' and 'Armada' are fun, too. Another good strategy game is 'Dune: Emporer'. It's a war game, but the focus is on building and defending; expanding and conquering. It's one of the first PC games I played.
The 'Dune' series by Frank Herbert and 'The Chronicles of Amber' series by Roger Zelazny are probably the best SF books ever written. 'The Dark Tower' series by Stephen King is great, too; as is most of his work. The 'Ender' cycle by Orson Scott Card and the 'Hope' series by David Feintuch are well worth reading, if you like hard SF.
Movies and games based on great SF books are the most interesting and fun. I'm not trying to take anything away from 'Stargate' or 'The Matrix', they're really special, I thoroughly enjoy them both. Also 'Back To The Future' and, of course, 'Star Wars'.
Space exploration and exploitation is my pet peeve: Why isn't there a lot more of it?
