Skowhegan Cinema - An unfriendly ghost inhabits this movie house built in 1929. When an apartment was added to the building in 1978, the ghost began to play tricks on the workmen there. Tools were thrown, freshly painted walls were ruined, and workers even received an electrical shock, even though there was no electricity connected to the building at the time. Skowhegan Cinema Description of your picture Said to be one of the most haunted places in America, if you go to this theater you're going to get more than your movie and popcorn. Handprints are frequently found on the movie screen with no explanation. Add to that some more weird occurances and you have quite a prolific haunting.

This ornate movie house, built in 1929, is home to a hostile ghost. The presence started playing dirty tricks when an apartment was added to the building in 1978. The shadowy presence was once seen in the auditorium and was blamed for hurling a piece of the ceiling from the balcony into the sets below.

Maine Cinema

My name is Lindsey Pinkham, I am 12 years old
and I live in Skowhegan, Maine.
I have found your really great site and I was Wondering if you
accepted stories over the internet, through e-mail? If you do,
here's mine...
Since I live in Maine I have been to the Haunted
Cinema. It is one of the 50 most haunted places in
the United States. It is the most haunted place in Maine. I think
it is really neat and I enjoy going there. I know someboby who works
there and I go there alot. One night when I and two of my friends
went there to see the movie something happend! Since it is old
and there is only one screen, we sat in the far lefthand corner. I was
sitting near the aisle. During the movie I got a sudden and very cold
draft coming from behind me. I reached for me jacket in the empty seat
in front of me. My friend did the exact same thing at the same time.
My other friend, sitting right beside us, was sweating hot and she thought
that we were just joking around and pretending to be cold. But we weren't.
The next thing is the thing that scared me the most. I felt fingers poking my
back and jabbing me in the neck. The hair on my neck stood up and I had
a funny chill up my spine that i have never experienced before! I thought then it
was my friend trying to scare me but i looked at her and she looked at me and
she said, "Stop poking me, Lindsey!" She was grabbing her shoulders also
as if it had really hurt. I said very funny and she gave the most indefinete look
that I have ever seen her do and she wouldn't lie about something like that because
she doesn't like all that paranormal stuff. I relized later that there's no possible way that
she or anyone could've touched me and then went back to there seat without me hearing
or at least catching them out of the corner of my eye. I know I wasn't making it up because
we were watching a comedy movie and I had no Images of ghosts or Paranormal activity from
the movie or in head. It really scared me and I had to change places with my friend farest
from the aisle. I don't usually get scared about things like that very easily at all. Not about
Ghosts at least. I just thought you would want to hear about this since you have something posted
on The Skowhegan Cinema all ready o your site. There are many other very scary and very true stories
behind the Cinema and Skowhegan is big and Everyone kknows about it. This is very true. I thank
you for your time and that you care enough to put OUR postings on the site. Thank you,

A visitor writes, "I found your story on the Skowhegan Cinema very interesting. I grew up in this town and went to the cinema often throughout the years. I always got a strange feeling while in the cinema - particularly in the area of the upper balcony and the ladies room (for some odd reason). In later years, I went back and spoke with the Perrys who were the owners for many years. They informed my friend and I that they definately felt the place was very haunted and relayed a couple of stories to us. Mrs. Perry told us a story of an incident that happened one day when she was painting in the small apartment that was in the rear of the cinema. She was getting ready to paint the walls and had placed the full paint can on stepladder and left the room for a couple of seconds to get something. When she came back, the paint can still stood, undisturbed, on the stepladder but there was paint from the can spread all across the walls of the apartment that she was about to paint. She said she hadn't been out of the room more than a couple of seconds and had no idea how this could have happened since there was no one else in the apartment or the cinema at the time. The Perrys were kind enough to let us take pictures inside the building, which was closed at that time. We had a camera with infrared film and we took several pictures of the theater, including the balcony. Unfortunately, the spirits did not want to make themselves known on that day and we got no evidence on film of their presence. Due to ill health, the cinema was sold by the Perrys. The new owner has completely restored the beautiful theater and it has recently reopened."--http://www.dawghouse.topcities.com/maine.html

SKOWHEGAN'S LAKE GEORGE Skowhegan - West side Lake - Lake George - there is a paranormal force that lurks within the cabins of the camp. A true fact: "Four kids were walking along in the woods, when they came upon an abandoned cabin with high, foggy windows. Two kids lifted the smaller kid to boast up to get a better view of what was 'concealed' inside! There in the cabin beheld a game room with chairs folded up around the room, however when the other kid wanted a look for herself, she reported something much different than that! Nevertheless, the other girl saw a folded-up game table against the wall...instead of a game room she beheld a large rectangular table with all the chairs perfectly seated around the table.

Stabbing suspect blames ghost

SKOWHEGAN — A Hartland woman accused of stabbing a drinking companion has blamed the assault on the man's dead ex-wife.

Jean Lampron, 46, was charged with aggravated assault, reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon and obstructing the report of a crime after she allegedly stabbed Paul Vicnaire of St. Albans several times Sunday night after drinking whiskey with him at his Hartland Road home.

According to an affidavit filed in Skowhegan District Court Monday, Vicnaire told police that Lampron stabbed him under orders from his dead ex-wife.

Lampron, however, told police that Vicnaire's ex-wife, who was glowing and dressed "in a beautiful white robe," stabbed him.

Lampron told police that she attempted to pull the ex-wife off Vicnaire and in the process got blood on her shirt. Vicnaire was calling the dead woman's name out at the time, Lampron told police, according to the document, signed by Somerset County Sheriff's Deputy Kris M. McKenna.
