Well, that meeting with our lovely principal happened this morning at the desired time of 10am, 15 minutes before the second period. She didn't expect any input I suppose, or for us to completely agree with her suggestion. It's not as if she heard what we were saying, or cared for that matter. They expect that everything will be fine and dandy to just turn the yearbook class, which is currently two credits and more work load than any other course in the school, into a club. They think more people will take it if it's a club - WRONG!!! Another thing she suggested was to not have a yearbook next year, I don't really care because I'm not going to be there anyways but, I can imagine the graduates being mighty steamed about that. the theory behind this is that after a year or two hiatus that students would want to get involved and would make the yearbook happen on their own

Oh, how optimistic they were. I guess they don't see student life the way we do. They don't see the entire school atmosphere being bad, they only see what they want to see.... attendance is up "YAY!"...excuse me while i roll my eyes.

They can't say they don't feel the distinct lack of interest in our school. They must not notice the halls being vacant as soon as the after school bell rings. When I was in grade nine, I remember there being more spirit, more activities, more involvement. Can't say as I care much anymore. I'm there as little as I have to be, two classes a day if I attend both.

I'd like to think a big part of the problem started because of Student's Council. The members of our student council aren't exactly a fair representation of the people in the school. The people who are elected are outgoing, which is a good thing, the bad part is that they dont give a rats arse what happens. Most of them are only on students council so that they have an activity for the universities to consider. An example would be HarassmentBoy, or so I shall call him. All he ever does is put down anyone elses ideas, and complain about how things aren't going his way. He is the type of student who shouldn't even be considered for student's council. All he does in class is harass people, one after the other, usually sexual comments or remarks and it gets quite old. I wonder if university will force him to get a little maturity or if he'll still be like this in ten years?

Of course student's council isn't the only place to lay blame. There are other "elite" groups within our school of which the members are chosen only on social status not on academic merit or school involvement. Ambassadors is one of these groups, the members are either children of teachers or the friends of teachers children. This is completely unfair and not a fair representation of our school. These Ambassadors of ours aren't even responsible, on grade nine day ArmadilloMan and I were selling yearbooks to the grade nines, only the ambassadors were required to take the money (we aren't sure why) and we ended up losing money, a fair amount too. How come these students get to be representatives for the rest of us? I don't want someone like that representing me, i want someone with intellegence, poise, maybe a smile too. I know I don't fit into these categories but, some people I can think of do.
