Finally, the point of eternal D-nation is upon us. After years of listening to underground bootleg recordings of Tenacious Ds television appearances, we finally have an album to buy. Sarcastic jackasses Jack Black and Kyle Gass have put together a showcase of a few favorite songs and skits among Tenacious D fans as well as many new tracks to rock our socks off. There are twenty-one tracks of short deranged comedy nuggets and music that is all meant to hit you like a hilarious rock n roll explosion.
Prior to the release of this album their most famous claim to fame, aside from Jacks many appearances in films, was their appearance on Saturday Night Live hosted by Matthew Broderick where the two of them with only their acoustic guitars played a two part song called Tribute/Double Team. The chemistry between Jack and Kyle is very similar to the insensitive bully and his best friend who goes along with everything. Jacks overpowering attitude has got so much charm and sincerity; it is tough to dislike him. This album and its promotion has put their blunt humor and witty remarks in the public eye and has pulled in the likes of Foo Fighter leadman David Grohl to appear on seven of the tracks. They have a video on MTV for the song off the album called Wonderboy and have made an animated video for the song Fuck Her Gently which probably wont ever see any airtime on MTV but will be appearing this month at Spike and Mike Sick & Twisted Animation Festival.
Jack and Kyle have a hilarious relationship with eachother and with their fans while performing and have teamed up with Weezer to tour the US. With Jacks new movie starring himself alongside Gwyneth Paltrow called Shallow Hal opening November 9th, the album will only get more publicity. This is a very clever album that is as fun to laugh at as it is to listen to. For more information: www.tenaciousd.com
