| XTC was formed in 1976. There music came from the punk and new wave genres. The band consistently earned rave reviews, and a rabid cult following, yet never cracked into main stream music. In the early 80s, they became more classic pop/rock using influences such as the beatles. In March 1982 Andy Partridge collapsed on stage during a live performance, due to nervous exhaustion. The rest of the tour was cancelled due to his severe stage fright. After that he announced that XTC would never play live again. | ||||||
