| The engineers and sales staff at MF worked to liven things up for 1972 by introducing the Formula series of sleds. As the definition implied, the Formula line is a sport class machine, based on the short single seat, single cylinder model of previous years. The addition of the lightweight JLO twin was intended to raise the performance bar and some performance suspensions were planned. The parts book shows the Formula II with a sliderail system. When I found many of these slider parts in old inventories, I started a search for these unusual machines. So far I have found a couple of FM IIs, however they are equipped with the standard bogie wheel suspension. Now, why plan a system and not use it? Don't know. What I have found is that the suspension parts I located are identical to the aftermarket Mogul Tamer Suspension system marketed by Double V Engineering Co. Box38 Arvada CO 80002. Could it be that MF intended to market this machine with the slides from Mogul Tamer and something happened to prevent the installation? If so why would the dealers be stocking parts for a system not produced? A preseason parts purchase? Now, If you have a MF formula II with the sliders, that would throw my theory into a tailspin. And I would love to see an actual slider machine. To help with the search or ask questions, contact me at: [email protected] |

| This is a Mogul Tamer I photogaphed at the Cobleskill NY Grass Drags and Vintage Show a couple of years ago. Unfortunatly, I do not know the owners name. My system also has a second set of idler wheels in the center, attached to the front of the rear skids that ride on the track. |

| This is a rear shot ot the same machine pictured above. This photo and the title photo above come from Richard Shantz of Canada. Richard tells me that he sold this machine to a dealer for display. As you can see this machine has the standard bogie system. | ||||||||||||||||
