       Cyclone vs Marauder?
What's In A Name? Until recently I thought I had heard of all the names given to the different Massey Ferguson snowmobile models. Then Cory Schindel posted a question about his Marauder on the NH Classifieds.
What is it? Three Cylinders? Liquid Cooled? Sounds like a Cyclone to me. So I contacted him for more details. This set up a flurry of email questions to and from all the people I could think of to drag into my quest. Most never heard of one. Some thought they recognized the name, but could offer no details. Not much to go on. So I started a detailed look at the decals on my Cyclones. This revealed even more questions. The parts book shows a hood stripe with the name Cyclone attached. Mine is two seperate pieces. [You can see the dark outline on the scan above.] Several people are researching their machines and I am hoping that a pattern will develop. If you have a Cyclone or Marauder please contact me at:

73 Series II decals.  I was told that these stickers were installed after a clutch recall. This was supposed to help dealers recognize a machine that had the service. I have seen machines with these stickers correctly installed at the rear of the tunnel next to the model decal. I have also seen these with the stickers on the side of the glovebox, at the front of the tunnel, at the rear of the tunnel but installed at the front or below the model decal. Could this be the reason that this sticker never seems to be in the same place?
69 to 72.....    The small decals on the fuel tanks. Many people say that their machines never had these decals. Just a few thoughts. According to several service bulletins I have Ski Whiz recalled many machines for a fuel tank problem. Did the dealers neglect to replace the decals on these machines? Maybe it was  the dealers responsablity to install them as part of the dealer prep package and they were discarded. Also I have talked to some that have had problems getting [high quality] reproduction decals to stay on. Could it be that something in the composition of the plastic fuel tank prevents proper adhesion?
