| The second basic design that MF brought to market are the Series II machines. Many new features were incorperated while carrying over the best design features from the first design. An attempt at improving handling was tried by increasing the ski spread and shortening the skis themselves. |

| While a great step forward from the first line of MF machines, the 73 Ski Whiz was being passed by technological advances like lightweight aluminum construction, sliderail suspension, IFS and even liquid cooling, even as it was on the drawing board. It retained many of the qualities that early sled builders found successful. The JLO engines were light and powerful for their size. The rugged steel chassis remained along with the poly involute track w/ internal drive and the tough plastic fuel tank. A rugged machine had sold many a machine in the industries early years, but many people were looking for a sport machine with the kind of power AND handling not seen in the early MF. The main reason this design was handicapped was its HEAVY steel chassis and the steel suspension parts of the bogies. If the Ski Whiz line had lost 125 pounds in the redesign it would have been keeping up with the likes of Rupp and Chapperal. As we see now, MF had stayed with what worked best for an agriculltural and consumer products company of the era. Rugged and dependable. AND HEAVY. |
