| We gradually learn as the series unfolds that Heero was not raised by his parents, but first by a professional assassin, Odin Lowe and then, after age 8 or so, by the brilliant but rather sinister figure of "Dr. J", the L1 Colony creator of Gundam Wing. Dr. J has apparently trained Heero from a very early age to be "the perfect soldier", and it's implied that his training regimen was harsh at the very least. Heero learned his lessons well. He has become as close as is humanly possible to the warrior that Dr. J envisioned; he has also, as a result, suffered a devastating loss of normal human emotional expression and relational skills. As strong a soldier as he is, Heero can't handle any form of close human interaction. When he is approached by others, he reacts by ignoring them or by threatening them. Heero Yuy is the focal character in the Gundam Wing anime series. He is the pilot of the title mecha, Gundam Wing and is known as Gundam pilot 01, in part because he has been raised and trained on L1 Colony, but also, I believe, because of his top status among the other characters. Although GWing is a story about the impact of war on societies, that larger topic is told through the personal story of Heero and his experiences in that war. Also in the series Heero seems to develop a relationship with Relena. Nothing ever happens between them but even though she is very annoying Heero can't ignore her. He thinks about Relena a lot; he hears her voice and even sees her face during particularly stressful points in his life. (remember when he is in Zero and he kind of goes sort of crazy..then Quatre snaps him back to reality and he falls to the ground and then sees an image of Relena) Heero also seems drawn to Relena somehow, even though he protests her desire to become "GoOd" friends. Heero is also an excellent Pilot, piloting Gundam Wing. He can also pilot Wing Zero and not go insane. Heero has amazing physical abilities, he is extrememly resiliant, being able to set his bones besides being able to control his heartrate and blood pressure.. | ||||||||||
