“I don’t wanna go to school.” Matt
whined while his mother got his Cheerios for him and his brother.
“But
it’s going to be fun. Amy is going to be there, Matty.” Maria said trying to
convince her eldest son.
“I like Amy but I don’t like school.” Matt said
folding his arms. “Jeff doesn’t have to go to school.” Matt continued to whine.
Jeff smiled and ate his cereal in delight.
“He’s not staying home either,
he has to go to daycare.” Maria said giving them their orange
juice.
“Mommy I wanna stay home, pwease.” Jeff said pouting at his
mother.
“No, you’re going to daycare, it’s just down the street and then
you come home in the after noon.” Maria said cleaning up a little. “OK, hurry up
and finish, Matt you have to take the bus.”
“But mom.” Matt said
finishing his cereal.
“It’s going to be fun, you get to take the big boy
bus to school.” His mother said trying to excite him.
“I’m not that
stupid.” Matt said running into the living room, leaving his shocked mother and
Cheerio occupied brother.
“Ok, Jeff let’s get going.” Maria said grabbing
Jeff. She got both lunches off the counter and the three of them headed to the
door. They walked outside and to the corner where Amy and her mother were
waiting. Amy had a baby blue dress and a blue headband with her little navy
shoes.
“See Amy looks happy to go to school.” Maria said looking at
Matt.
“Mommy do I have to?” Amy whined. “But I wanna stay home and watch
talk shows with you.”
“You will have much fun at school you’ll never want
to leave.” Jonah said petting her daughter on the head. Amy just looked at her
and sighed.
“But mama I wanna watch Ricky Lake with you.” Amy pouted as
the bus pulled up. Jonah gave Amy a hug and a good bye kiss.
“I’ll back
at this stop by 3:00 ok?” Amy nodded and got on the bus with
Matt.
“Bye-bye.” Jeff said waving to them as they got on. Maria then
proceeded with Jeff and walked down the street to the neighborhood daycare. The
walked inside to the bright yellow room filled with children and lots of
toys.
“See theirs Nora, I bet she’s having fun.” Maria said walking over
to them. Nora was being held tightly by her mother.
“She doesn’t want me
to leave her.” Kelly whispered to Maria. “She thinks I won’t come back for her.”
Kelly whispered still trying to coax her crying child down. Nora had a little
pink dress with her pink ribbons in her pigtails.
“Nora, Jeff is here
too.” Maria said sweetly as Kelly set her down on the ground. Nora rubbed her
eyes and looked at Jeff.
“I’ll be back at 2:45.” Kelly said kissing Nora
on the forehead.
“So will I.” Maria said hugging Jeff before they left.
This was going to an interesting day.
“Hello Class, I am Miss Rodgers and
I am going to be your teacher.” The blonde lady said jumping up and
down.
“Is she ok?” Matt asked Amy. They looked at the blonde teacher
happily up and down.
“I think not.” Amy said sadly.
“OK kids who
knows their ABCs?” Miss Rodgers asked leaning down to them. “How about Matt?”
The woman squeaked. Matt looked at her shocked.
“A B C D E F G H I J K L
M N O P Q R S T U V W X Y Z.” Matt said like it was no big deal.
“YAY!
Very good!” She squealed jumping up and down.
“This is going to a long
day.” Amy said looking at
Matt.

Meanwhile
Nora and Jeff sat at a table finger painting.
“What you painting?” Nora
asked looking at Jeff’s picture.
“It’s a rainbow.” Jeff said proudly
putting his fingers in the orange paint.
“It pretty.” Nora said admiring
his picture.
“I wish my hair was those colors.” Jeff said
frowning.
“I can paint it for you.” Nora smiled.
“Ok, I can paint
yours.” Jeff said happily he squealed covering his small hands with
paint.

“I
think Miss Rodgers needs to sit down now.” Amy said looking at her teacher
prance around the classroom with the other children.
“We should help her
calm down.” Matt said walking to the desk. He looked all over the desk to see a
small tube. Since he couldn’t read he picked up the tube and squirted all over
the chair.
“Why is you putting glues all over her chair?” Amy asked him
putting her little hands on her hips.
“Because mama tells Jeff if he
can’t sit still, she’d glues him to a chair.” Matt shrugged. “I figures it help
her.”
“I guess.” Amy said smiling. Miss Rodgers walked right over to her
desk and sat right on the glue, sticking her to the chair. “Maybe that was a
good idea.”
“Ok, class, get your blankets out. It’s nap time.” Miss
Rodgers sang in her high squeaky voice. The children all got their blankets and
settled in, while the still unsuspecting Miss. Rodgers sat in the chair, not
aware of her
predicament.

“Hmmm...
You like green?” Nora asked putting more blue in Jeff’s hair. They had already
started painting each other’s hair. Jeff had painted Nora’s hair a variety of
colors. He put in bright green, hot pink, yellow, and baby blue. Nora had put a
bright blue and was now adding some green.
“Yes.” Jeff said happily. Nora
continued to coat his hair until another idea had sparked his imagination again.
“Can I paint your face?”
“Otay.” Nora said facing Jeff. Jeff put on red
on his fingers and then pressed his fingers against her face.
“My mommy
puts this stuff on to be prettyful!” Jeff said continuing to work on his
masterpiece. He added some neon green to her eyes and then blue to her
lips.
“I look pretty?” Nora asked.
“Uh huh.” Jeff nodded happily.
“Let’s go show Miss Morgan.” Jeff said taking Nora’s hand and walking to the
other side of the room.
“Miss Morgan! Lookie!” Jeff shouted. The teacher
pleasantly looked down and her face was then covered with confusion and
shock.
“What did you two do?” Miss Morgan asked fearfully.
“We
pretty.” Nora said happily.
“This is not going to be pretty.” Miss Morgan
sighed going to call their parents.
