"What should we play?" Steve asked as they
the toddlers all sat on the cold restaurant floor. They were at Forest's
birthday party, playing games.
"What about duck, duck goose?" Xiaoyu
suggested.
"Ok, I'll go first." Julia said jumping up from her position
on the floor. "Duck." Julia said tapping Jin's head.
"Watch the hair."
Jin complained.
"Duck." She continues, tapping Forest's head. "Duck." She
said moving to Steve.
"First ask yourself is it really worth it."
Hwoarang warned, before she reached down to touch his head. Julia thought for a
moment and decided it would be in her best interest if she didn't touch
Hwoarang.
"Duck." Julia said just moving on. "Chicken!" Julia said
tapping Xiaoyu's head.
"It's goose, not chicken." Xiaoyu
corrected.
"That's not point!" Julia said stomping her foot down. "The
point is I hit your head and you are it."
"But you have to say 'goose'
and tap my head. Those are the rules." Xiaoyu said.
"The chicks got a
point." Hwoarang said shrugging.
"See he said chicks!" Julia whined.
"Chicks are baby chickens, so I am right."
"No, it's goose." Steve
said.
"Yea Xiaoyu is right." Jin agreed.
"After all it is called
duck, duck, goose." Forest shrugged.
"Whatever." Julia huffed, sitting
back down. "Let's play something else."
"Like?" Hwoarang
asked.
"Ring around the rosy." Xiaoyu said happily.
"No, that's
about people dying of the black death and them stinking, then dying and then
turning to ashes." Julia said protesting. They all looked at her horrified.
"What? It's true my mama told me. So if you play it you'll turn to ashes and
die." Xiaoyu looked at Julia and cried. Her cries set off a chain reaction to
Steve. Jin and Hwoarang looked like they could burst into tears but they didn't.
Forest just looked scared. "Oh you all played and now you all are going to
die!"
"What's going on?" Marshall asked looking at all the cute yet sad
faces around him.
"She said we all gonna die." Xiaoyu cried, point her
finger at Julia.
"What?" Paul asked, he was there helping Marshall with
the party and so he could be with his son Steve.
"They are cause if you
play that game ring around rosy you'll turn into ashes and die." Julia
explained.
"No, it's just a song." Marshall said trying to get Xiaoyu and
Steve to stop their tears. "You all aren't going to turn into a pile of
ashes."
"Really?" Steve asked hopefully.
"Nope, it's just made
up." Paul said assuring him with a smile. "Now you all play nice." Paul said
walking to the back to finish getting things ready with Marshall.
"You're
a meanie, I don't like you." Xiaoyu said moving away from Julia.
"You all
are such cry babies." Hwoarang sighed.
"You were just as scared as
everyone else." Jin pointed out.
"Whatever." Hwoarang
grumbled.
"Kids!" Paul called. "Time for cake!" The kids all ran right to
the back at the mention of cake. They all gathered around Forest and the large
chocolate cake.
"Happy Birthday to Forest, Happy Birthday to Forest,
Happy Birthday dear Forest, Happy Birthday to you." The messy and off key chorus
of toddlers sang to Forest. After the singing Forest attempted to blow out the
candles.
"What gives?" Forest asked, looking at the still lit candles.
"Are these a trick?"
"No." Paul answered it was actually
true.
"You're just too weak to blow them out." Hwoarang mumbled and Julia
hit him. "You know my father said never hit a girl but I am willing to make an
exception here." They watched as Forest tried and tried to blow the candles out
but he just couldn't.
"I help!" Xiaoyu squealed happily. She pulled out a
mini fan and give it one quick swipe over the candles and they were
out.
"To easy." Hwoarang said.
"For once I agree with you." Jin
said nodding his head. After the cake was served they all sat there to eat
it.
"Ok kids I have a customer, so stay here and behave." Marshall said
walking out to the front of the restaurant with Paul.
"What's in there?"
Jin asked pointing to the double doors.
"The kitchen." Forest told him as
he ate.
"Let's go have a look." Hwoarang smirked as he got out of his
chair.
"But we're not suppose to!" Julia warned.
"No he meant not
for us to come out to the front of the restaurant." Hwoarang said walking into
the kitchen. He quickly walked in and looked around the white setting. He
climbed unto the stool and looked at the dish of food in front of him. He
reached for the first things insight. He got come lemon juice, pepper, vinegar,
garlic, nutmeg, and salt. He poured a generous amount in the dish and left,
right as Marshall came in to get the dish, he served it to the customer. I still
can't figure out why Marshall's restaurant failed, can
you?
