The
next morning Jin slowly rolled himself out of bed. He felt well to put simply,
like shit. He wasn't sure what hurt more at this point his pride or his heart.
He knew he was without a shadow of a doubt in love with Xiaoyu but was he
letting love push him away from her. Not even bothering to change out of his
nightclothes he went down stairs for breakfast. He saw Xiaoyu sitting at the
table eating cereal. She never ever ate cereal for breakfast. He fondly
remembered all the mornings she would bounce around the kitchen eating
cookies.
"Morning." She said with apathy in her voice. Guilt took over
him at her voice. He noticed her red eyes, she had been crying over him. He just
kept telling himself it was for the best but at this point he didn't even
believe himself.
"Xiaoyu." Jin paused searching for the right words. "I'm
sorry."
"No, I am." Xiaoyu said coldly. "I'm sorry I believed you cared
about me, when you don't. I'm really sorry I believed that."
"You know I
love you." Jin said seriously sitting next to her.
"You can, tell me you
love me until you're blue in the face. But it means nothing to me. It's just
three words. Love shouldn't be something you say to me, it should be something
you show me." Xiaoyu said looking dead in the eyes. "I know there is something
your not telling me."
"I don't want to hurt you." Jin said shaking his
head. "I couldn't live with myself it I ever hurt you."
"You're hurting
me, when you shut me out of your life." Xiaoyu sighed. "You're hurting me now
cause I don't know if you're ok, I don't know what to do to help you." Jin
leaned his head back against the chair and thought for a moment, he had to tell
her.
"I keep having these visions." Jin said slowly. "You're either hurt
by me, or taken away."
"Jin those are just visions, it's nothing. See,
I'm ok." Xiaoyu said trying to console her. Jin shook his head.
"No, you
don't understand." Jin said sorrowfully. "It's just that it feels so real, and
sometimes things are left behind from some of them, Xiao."
"I know it
scares you." Xiaoyu said holding his face in her gentle grasp. "But I will help
you get through this. You just have to remember; I am not going to let you drive
yourself insane. When did this start?"
"About a month ago." Jin said
softly. "I walking around the mansion and I just walked by a mirror. Out of the
side of my eye, I saw my father. I thought I was seeing things but I saw my
father in me. I stopped in front of the mirror, I didn't see myself anymore-I
saw my father."
"You're not your father, Jin." Xiaoyu said trying to
convince him. "Don't let this beat you. I know you'd never hurt me. If I can
realize that, why can't you?" Jin shrugged. He didn't know, honestly.
"I
just don't want to do something that I'll regret." Jin sighed.
"You
already are." Xiaoyu said locking eyes with him. "You're letting the devil
win."
