Roxy
slowly rose from her bed and snuck into Rob's room. She grabbed his car keys and
headed out of the hotel room without even bothering to change out of her
pajamas. 'I have to get out of here.' Roxy thought starting the engine. 'I need
to get out.' Roxy thought pulling the car out of the driveway. She drove along
the road with tears flowing freely. From out of no where a car swerved out in
front of her. Roxy panicked, she did the only thing she could in this situation
scream. Roxy's head shot up in fear as she stopped screaming. It was a dream,
thank God. She glanced at her alarm clock and sighed. Three thirty PM it read.
She sighed and got up to shower. She put on a black sundress, grabbed her bag
and headed out to the arena. She decided to get her own rental car and go alone.
The drive to the arena was fairly long and lonely for Roxy. When she got to the
arena she headed strait to her dressing room and changed for her match, not that
she even cared anymore. She lost her match and to top that off she was beat up
pretty bad. Her head wasn't even in the match or even in the arena. Her thoughts
were drifted to who knows where! With a heavy heart she walked up the ramp,
trying to pull off a positive act for the crowd. A loud commotion drawled her to
a certain backstage room. Her cousin had gone after Brock and now they were at
it with words, as the other superstars watched.
"I want you to stay the
hell away from her. If I find out you've even looked at her, I'll hunt you down
like the dog you are." Rob threatened looking at Brock.
"I'm sorry if you
think I've done something to her. I would never lay a hair on that little girls
head." Brock explained trying to remain calm. Rob lunged at Brock connecting
with him, and they began to fight.
"Stop it." Roxy said in an almost
yell. They ignored her and continued their battle. "I said stop got damn it!"
Roxy yelled. Every head in the room turned to face Roxy. "I have had enough of
both of you! I don't need you all to friggin' baby-sit me. I am a grown woman
believe it or not, and I think I can take care of myself."
"Roxy, I just
don't want you to get hurt." Rob said trying to explain his actions.
"You
don't want me to get hurt huh?" Roxy said with a twang of sarcasm to her voice.
"It's a little late for that! You lied to me all my life."
"I said I
was-" Rob started.
"Why are you even bothering to apologize to me! It
won't take any of the pain away!" Roxy yelled. "You are not my mother or my
father. Wait maybe you are? Are there anymore fucked up family secrets you'd
care to fill me in on now?"
"Maybe you should talk to your father about
that." Rob sighed. Roxy looked at him in disbelief, there was more.
"If
you all want to act immature then fine, don't hang around me. I won't put up
with this bull shit." Roxy said storming out the room pissed of. The superstars
who had witnessed this were horrified. Over the months they had gotten to know
Roxy they had never seen her like this. Rob and Brock were shocked beyond
belief.
"I think she's mad with you two." Spike said visibly
shocked.
Roxy kept her steady pace as she huffed down the hallway. She
was livid with the two of them. She couldn't remember when she'd ever been so
mad with anyone.
"Hey why so red in the face?" Tommy asked stopping her.
If looks could kill Tommy would be dead and cremated then and there. "Who are
you going to kill?"
"I don't want to talk about this, not now not ever."
Roxy said calmly and slowly.
"Are you sure?" Tommy asked looking her in
the eyes. "Cause you know I'm here for you."
"I just want to be left
alone." Roxy said shaking a little. "Please just leave me alone. I don't want to
talk."
"Ok, just call me if you need me." Tommy said releasing her. Roxy
kept walking; keeping her mind focused on getting to the exit.
'I have to
get out of here.' Roxy thought as she walked out the door. She got into her car
and just drove around blankly for a few hours. She knew Rob was waiting for her
back at the hotel, so she decided to drag it out as long as she could. When she
finally went to the hotel she found Rob sitting on her bed.
"What?" Roxy
asked coldly.
"I asked that your father send this to you, you should
know." Rob said handing her an envelope. Roxy cautiously took it and slowly
opened it up. And read it to herself.
Dear Roxy,
I'm so sorry you
had to find out about your mother like that. I wanted the easy way out, I wanted
to pretend she never existed so maybe some of the pain would go away. Maybe our
family could live without grief. It was enough for me to see you in the
hospital, not knowing if my little girl was going to be all right. I didn't want
you to worry that another one of your parents would leave you. I'm sorry you
can't remember her, I think I did what was best for and I am sorry if I hurt
you. But you need to know something else. You have an older brother. He didn't
die in the car accident. He's alive. A few years before we had you your mother
and me got into an argument and she left. She slept with my brother and became
pregnant. After he was born he went to live with my brother, and then we had
you. Roxy, Rob is your half brother.
Roxy stopped reading and looked at
Rob. Everything had made sense. When she first met Trish, Trish told her she
reminded her of someone. All the times Rob came over her house for the
weekend.
"You know?" Roxy asked looking him looking him in the eyes. He
nodded.
"I found out when you were in the hospital." Rob sighed. "They
were talking outside your room door and I heard everything. I understand what
you're going through. The reason I'm so protective over you is that I already
lost the mother I never knew about, I don't want to lose you."
"I'm sorry
I yelled." Roxy said hugging him.
"It's ok. I would've yelled too if I
were in your position." Rob said understandingly. "I want you to have
something."
"What?" Roxy asked sitting next to him. Rob pulled out a
jewelry box and a book.
"I hid this from your father when he burnt all of
your mothers possessions. Here are some pictures and a music box. I saved them
for you." Rob said softly. Roxy opened the book to see a picture of her, Rob and
her mother. She looked just like Roxy only with darker shade of brown hair. She
continued flipping through the book. The last picture was of when Roxy was first
born and her mother was holding her.
"What was her name?" Roxy asked
tearing up a little bit.
"Rachel." Rob answered. "She was just as a sweet
and as kind as you are now."
"Do you think she's proud of me?" Roxy asked
wide-eyed.
"Of course she is." Rob said with a smile.
Even after
Rob left Roxy still flipped through the her mother's possessions. When she was
done, she decided to go for a walk outside the hotel. She walked around and soon
found a park. She sat on the swing and slowly rocked herself back and worth.
This reminded her of a picture of her and her mother sitting on a
swing.
"Hey." She heard a voice say. She turned around to see Brock
standing there.
"Hey." Roxy said softly.
"What are you doing out
here this time of night?" Brock asked worried.
"Why would you even care?"
Roxy asked.
"I do care about you." Brock said sincerely. Roxy got off her
swing and walked over to him.
"Prove it." Roxy challenged. Brock leaned
down and kissed
her.
