Winston Smith- A quiet 39 year old who hates Big Brother. He is testing his own bravery and big brother's authority by keeping a journal and having a relationship with Julia. Eventually his love affiar with Julia gets broken up and Winston gets sent to the Ministry of Love where his humanity is taken away from him and he evenutally surrenders to big brother. |

Julia- A young woman who Winston assumes is a big follower of the party. She falls for Winston right away. She is the opposite of Winston, she's young, full of life and enjoys herself. Eventually when her and Winston get caught she is taken to "room 101" and gets her entire personaltity sucked out of her, all that is left is a shell of what she used to be. |

Big Brother- A mystery character who is never seen. "He" is has never been seen by anyone and it one of the origonal founders of the party. He is worshiped by the people who greatly believe in the party. |

|
O'Brien- O'Brien is definatly a memeber of the inner party, but in the begining Winston feels strongly attached to. Origonally Winston puts all of his trust in him and does not trust Julia at all. O'Brien takes care of Winston whlie he is in the Ministry of Love. O'Brien is also thought to be part of the Thought Police. He knows all of Winston's thoughts while Winston is the the Ministry of Love. |
