Keeper League Rules

-         All teams may keep up to 5 players from previous season’s roster.  No team can have more than 5 Keepers at any time.

-         Each player kept counts as 1 pick.  However many players you keep, they will be predetermined as your first picks.  For example, if you keep 3 players, they are your first 3 picks.  Same goes for 1 keeper or 5 keepers.  You can not designate your players to any specific round.  Your keepers are your first picks for however many players you keep.

-         Players from your previous season’s roster may be traded to another team after the 3FL season is over. Trades must be fair for both sides.  There will be no stacking of any manager’s team.

-         Trades can be made for players and picks, however, any player that is traded in a player-for-player trade or a player-for-pick trade, must be kept as one of your keepers.  For instance, if team 1 traded Vick to Team 2 for Manning.  Team 2 would have to keep Vick and Team 1 would have to keep Manning entering the next draft.  If you trade for a player, you are allowed to trade that player away, but still must keep the player you trade for.  If trades are made for picks, the highest pick available to trade will be the pick following all of your keepers.  For example, if Team 1 trades Vick to Team 2 for a pick, and Team 2 is keeping 2 players already, then they add Vick as a third keeper, the highest pick Team 1 could receive is a 4th round pick.  (See below for Keeper rule updates involving trades).

-         A trade can be voided if the parties involved agree that if one of the players traded gets injured and will miss at least 3 games, then the trade will be void and all players revert back to their original teams.  If the trade is not voided and one of the players is injured and will miss at least 3 games, then that player has the option of releasing the injured player prior to the draft.  (injury must be for a minimum of a 3 week loss)

-         Trading may begin any time after the league championship game.  Trading will be suspended one week before the draft.  At this time the final keepers list must be submitted.  Trading will resume on draft day after everyone has arrived (or present by phone/internet) for the draft.

-         The commissioner (me) must be informed of any trades so that I can inform everyone else.

-         All players should submit a pre-draft list of up to 6 players they are considering to keep once the season has ended for everyone to see.  This list is not the final draft list.  This list can change up until a week before the draft.  A final draft list must be submitted one week before the draft.  This list is set in stone.  The only way this list can change is by losing a player to injury or release from their NFL club, or by trades on draft day.  This will give everyone time to plan out their draft.  The final list will consist of no more than 5 players.  If you want to keep less only put those players you definitely want to keep on the list.  Anyone on the final keeper list will be your keepers.

-         No manager will be forced to keep any players.  If you choose to go into the draft with no keepers, that is your choice.  You will begin the draft in your draft position (preset to previous season’s final standings) as you normally would.

-         The draft will no longer snake through.  The draft will remain positions 1 through 10 the entire draft, just like the NFL draft.  This should help the lesser teams from the previous season be more competitive in the upcoming season.

-         All of the final keeper lists will be shown to everyone to prepare for the draft.  As they are submitted to me, they will be updated on the website.

-         Any manager’s list can be changed up to the week before the draft.  So you will be able to look at other keepers to decide on your own keepers or attempt to trade for others.

-         I will contact all managers in the off-season and at the beginning of August to receive any pre-draft lists that have not been submitted or any changes you may have to your pre-draft list.

-         If a final list is not submitted a week before the draft, you will begin the draft with no players on your roster.  A pre-draft list is not required, but is used to help all other managers, as well as yourself, to prepare for the draft.

-         If a manager opts out of the league their team will be sold for $25 fee (+ Entry fee).  This money will be placed into the pot.

-         Update:  After the trade deadline (week 10) there are only 5 keeper spots that you can play with on your team.  Player for player trades are equal value across the board.  No keeper spot will be lost in a player for player trade.  For each player you trade, you trade away a keeper spot unless you acquire another player.  If you were to make a player for pick trade, the manager acquiring the pick will automatically lose a keeper spot and have only 4 keeper spots available to them.  The fifth keeper position will revert to a standard draft pick plus you will acquire that persons other pick that you traded for.  If two players were traded for one player, the manager trading away two players will automatically lose a keeper spot and only have 4 spots available.  The fifth spot will revert back to a standard draft pick.  The manager acquiring the two players would use both players as keeper picks in two of their five keeper spots. Other picks in later rounds may be offered without penalty to entice a trade.  Any player traded will be considered as a keeper and thus be replaced by another keeper player or a standard pick.

-         Any controversial issues that may come up will be discussed among all members either prior to or on draft day.

-         If there are any questions or comments about these rules, please do not hesitate to contact me, via email or phone.  There may be issues that I have not thought of or somebody else may have a better idea.
