Episode 1 The episode opens up to a night scene, where you see a blob of something fall from the sky to become a strange monster, only visible for a few seconds before disappearing. There is some titles coming up on the screen while this happens, along with the scene of a girl standing on a lamp post. She says she feels a strong pulse, and jumps away. The titles say: We
have no form, therefore we fear it, Scene switches to a sunset street with an orange haired boy beating up 4 punks. They have knocked over a memorial to a child who has died on that particular street, so he is angry. Then the child ghost appears and thanks him, and he leaves to go home. As he does, we find out his name is Kurosaki Ichigo, 15 years old and a highschool student. His family run a clinic that 'saves and doesnt save lives'. It also states that he can see ghosts for as long as he can remember. As he returns home he is greeted with a kick from his father. This seems a custom for him to 'train' fighting with his father. His two sisters, Karin and Yuzu are eating dinner, and Karin says she can see ghosts too, but doesnt beleive in them. Yuzu can only sense them. It also seems their mother is dead as well. It ends with Ichigo going to bed in a temper, and Karin mentions that Ichigo has been seeing 'them' more lately. When morning comes there is a news report of an explosion at a nearby building. When Ichigo comes out for breakfast he mentions this, and heads out. When he is walking along the street he hears a girl's scream and runs to the person's aid. As he does, another eplosion rocks the buildings around. As Ichigo runs towards it, he sees a huge creature he has never seen before and the girl ghost he met earlier on. Then suddenly, the same girl from the start of the episode dressed in black slices the creature in half and stealths her sword. As she does this she dissapears along with the ghost, and Ichigo is left to wonder what happened. That night, as Ichigo is lying on his bed, the girl comes though his window in the form of a black butterfly. She startles Ichigo, who immedietly questions who she is, but the girl ignores him. She then says 'Its near' and Ichigo then kicks her in the head to get her attention. After this happens, the girl is shocked that Ichigo can see her. After a moment, she says to Ichigo that she is a Death God. While this is happening, the girl ghost is being chased by another monster. When we go back to Ichigo's room, the girl explains that she is a Death God who vanquishes evil spirits, and she comes from Soul Society. Ichigo doesn't beleive her because he only beleives in things he can see. As it is, they argue and the Death God puts a binding spell on Ichigo. She then explains that she cant kill anyone she's not ordered to, and then sends the spirit Ichigo met earlier in the episode to Soul Society, or Heaven. She says thats another of the Death God's jobs. After a moment, she draws it out for Ichigo. She says there are two types of souls, Plus's and Hollows. Plus's are normal souls and Hollows are the bad ones that she has to vanquish. Ichigo asks why a Hollow is after the girl ghost, and the Death God replies that she doesn't fully understand them either. She also says that she cant sense Hollow's for some reason, and - although he doesn't know it - Ichigo actually did. The hollow attacks Yuzu, who barely escapes and warns Ichigo that the Hollow has Karin too. The Death God is shocked that she couldn't sense such spirit force before now. As Ichigo struggles to move due to the binding spell, the Death God goes after the Hollow, with a struggling Ichigo following. He says that he has to save his family, and tries to break the spell cast on him. The Death God says that no human ever has before, but she is shocked again when he does. He tries to attack the Hollow, who says 'I've found you'. Ichigo saves Karin and the Hollow dissapears, and the Death God remarks that her sould wasn't taken. It seemed that the Hollows are hunting Ichigo for his soul, because it is very powerful. Ichigo exlaims that if he is the reason his family is hurt, he'll take on the Hollow himself. Then, after a foolish attack by Ichigo, which the Death God blocks, she is seriously wounded due to Ichigo's attack (she blocked it.) The Death God says that the only way to save his family is to become a Death God himself. She says to thrust the Soul Slayer (her sword) though his heart. The Hollow tries to attack them, and Ichigo says that he will. As he does, we find out that the Death God's name is Kuchiki Rukia. Then Ichigo transforms into a Death God and defeats the Hollow, but there are some remarkable things about him - his Soul Slayer is huge, and he took all of Rukia's power, where's she only intended to give him half. And so that ends the episode.
