If anything, Skyfire was glad to have peace back. It meant he could go back
to living the way he knew how, instead of trying to figure out how to live a
war.
And so, a teacher he re-became.
It was his life, and he no longer had much of a desire to go exploring as he
did … but he knew the time had come to make a choice: Stay and live in
the knowledge you are near the one you lost, or leave and seek fortunes elsewhere
with a new friend …
I close my eyes
And I can see
The day we met
Just one moment and I knew
You're my best friend
'Do anything
For you
Sitting on the roof of the science academy building, Skyfire looked down at
the data pad in his hand, and clicked it on. It showed his new mission; scout
a new planet and find out any information you can. Normally, a certain someone
would be bouncing next to him, excited as anything, but he was not. The white
jet sighed, unsure if he could really take up this job when the one person he
wanted to come with him was no longer interested.
But he had made amens with the seeker, his seeker. No, no longer his.
He never could claim such a wild spirit as Starscream as his own. He belonged
to no one, and no matter how many people he had charmed with his unique life,
he would always remain free. To cage such a being would get you a one way ticket
to hell and back. There was no way Skyfire could do that.
And yet, here he was, making all the wrong choices … he should have never
sent that video … maybe never have woken up …
He felt like he had served his purpose in Starscream’s life to a sense,
and maybe it was time for someone else to take over.
He knew someone was standing behind him …
The only way he could avoid being hurt more was to leave … yeah …
take that mission away from here.
There’s too many memories here that I want to face up to …
We've gone so far
And done so much
And I feel
Like we've always been together
Right by my side
Through thick and thin
You're the part of my life
I'll always remember
“S … Skyfire?”
The white jet turned around slowly, looking at the red jet blankly. Starscream
looked a little nervous and a little sad, but he dared not to move. The setting
sun shone on his form, and Skyfire found himself longing to draw him into his
arms, hold him, say goodbye to him one last time …
The seeker took a nervous step forward, and then regained more confidence as
Skyfire turned back around to face the sun. He walked over to the white jet,
and sat down by his side, carefully not touching him.
“I’m … I’m not angry anymore, Skyfire.” The red
seeker said, and the white one closed his optics sadly. “I can never stay
mad at you long …”
“I know.” Skyfire answered solemnly, opening his optics again to
watch the sun set, not daring to look at the seeker, for fear of what he might
do. He feared that he would never let him go …
“Please Starscream, go.”
Starscream turned in shock, mixed with a little hurt.
“Skyfire—“
“I don’t want to hurt you anymore, and I don’t want to be
hurt.” Skyfire explained, standing up. He radiated coldness, and hurt,
but also a longing for Starscream.
The red seeker stood up, and said indignantly as Skyfire started walking away,
“That’s NOT the way you sort your problems out!”
The time has come
It's for the best I know it
Who could've guessed that you and I...
Somehow, someday
We'd have to say goodbye.
Skyfire stoped, and turned, and saw Starscream. He knew he shouldn’t of,
he knew he should never have laid his optics on him again.
But he did.
And he realised that he was still in love with him, and no matter what he did,
he would never be rid of it until he sorted it out.
In the next moment Skyfire knew of, Starscream was in his arms, holding him
tightly. He was kneeling on the roof, his head buried in Starscream’s
neck, and he blinked.
“It’s new times Skyfire,” Starscream whispered, “I know
we may never be like we were in the past, but we can still remain friends …
forever …”
“But …” Skyfire knew Starscream knew of his love, but the
seeker, although he used to love him in return, had moved on. He had
had the chance to, while Skyfire had not.
Starscream released him, and stood back. Skyfire felt suddenly strange; like
he had completed a mission and yet forgot to do something … what was it?
“I know of that mission, Skyfire.” Starscream said, a tiny grin
on his face. A peaceful smile. “I’ll be waiting, once I have completed
my mission.
“What mission?” Skyfire asked, curious.
Starscream strode over to the edge of the building, staring out, looking suddenly
serious. His gaze locked on the place where the old warriors were being held.
He turned back. “To help a lost soul heal.”

Once Skyfire was packed and ready, he headed off to the launching area. He
wished and still wished Starscream would come with him, but the seeker had denied
it, as Skyfire knew he would.
“You need to move on, train other students. I graduated long ago.”
But not from my spark …
You've helped me find
The strength inside
And the courage
To make my dreams come true
How will I find
Another friend
Like you
‘I really don’t know if I can do this or not,’ he
thought, ‘Not because of Starscream, but because I really need to
train up my skills too.
I also wish someone would come with me …’
“Skyfire!”
For a moment, Skyfire was sure it was Starscream, but his voice was not like
that … he turned, and saw one of his students run up to him.
“You’re Sunstorm aren’t you?” Skyfire asked the bright
yellow seeker.
“That’s right!” he said with a smile. ‘WHY is he
so similar to Starscream?!’
“Um, are you related to Starscream at all?” Skyfire asked, wondering
why he had never noticed this seeker before.
“Yeah, I was cloned from him.” Sunstorm said, shuffling his feet
and looking sad. “But I want to be recognised for me … but it seems
I’m drawn to the same things as him … as well as you.”
Skyfire blinked, “Me?”
“Yeah, he told me you were friends once, explorers.” Sunstorm said,
his optics curious. “I was sent to some along with you to scout this planet.”
“Really?” Suddenly, Skyfire didn’t seem so alone. “Well,
come along youngin’”
“I’m not THAT young.” Sunstorm scoffed, but ran after the
white jet.
But Skyfire sensed that there was someone else who wanted to say something to
him, and he turned back.
Bright as rubies and diamonds, grand as gold, Starscream smiled at him. Mentally,
he sent him a message and turned, and then was gone.
Skyfire blinked, thinking he had imagined it, but then the message came though,
and he felt truly happy for once.
‘When you return, I will be waiting for you … and I will always
love you, even if I never show it again … remember … and have fun
with my brother.’
‘I will Starscream …’ Skyfire took off, with the yellow pyramid
seeker following next to him.
Somehow today...
...we have to say goodbye.

Skywarp was working as a transport agent now, believe it or not. Because of
his teleporting technique, he was able to do the job fast and effectively, and
learnt to focus his teleport so he was far more accurate.
He was not as smart as some, but even he could notice a strong determination
from his former wingmate Starscream. When he visited that night, along with
Thundercracker, he asked what was going on.
“You look like you’re on one of Megatron’s old missions Starscream!”
He joked.
“Well …” The red seeker sat down, then jumped up with a cry
as he got an electric shock. He growled as TC and the black seeker roared with
laughter. He had waited to test out that prank for a while …
“VERY funny Skywarp,” Starscream growled, rubbing his now burnt
aft. “Remind me to sonic boom in your audio’s next time.”
He looked around, and hesitated. “Where’s the safe seat? --- oh
wait, don’t answer that.” He finished as Skywarp opened his mouth
with an evil grin.
After finding a safe spot, he answered the previous question. “I guess
you could say I’m on a mission of sorts.” He looked out at the stars,
knowing that Skyfire and Sunstorm would be swimming in them.
He turned back to them, “A rescue mission.”
