After an unforgettable Saturday filled with surprising finishes, it's hard to believe that only two teams suffered their first loss. And that has to be against the team with the most disheartening loss...Penn State. After scoring a comeback touchdown, Michigan rolls down the field and with one tick remaining, Chad Henne throws it to a wide open Super Mario Manningham to pull the upset. There are 8 undefeated teams remaining.
The Big 10 remains the most exciting conference, with 9 teams still in contention of winning it all now because of Penn State's loss. Wisconsin comes back to upset Minnesota at home, scoring two TDs with less than 4 minutes remaining. The scene with a Badger player cutting down the goal post after winning the Paul Bunyan ax was a classic. Ohio St's field goal kick block and return at the end of the first half proved to be the big difference between them and Michigan St. Northwestern keeps surprising everybody. Purdue is still the big let down. Indiana is still very over-fuckin' rated. Iowa actually plays an opponent next week. Man it just keeps gettin good. |

I also have some thoughts over the big game of the week. Yes, the USC/Notre Dame game was a classic, but I absolutely hate the finish. Notre Dame got screwed by the refs taking bad decisions by spotting the ball at the half yard line when Matt Leinart's fumble went out of bounds on at least the 4 yard line. If they spotted it right, USC woulda had the field goal, and we may still be playing in OT. This proves that every game in college football should have instant replay, and should not be an option. For as big as game as this, that cost Notre Dame a championship game bid. However, don't side with the Irish completely. On a big passing play by USC on 4th down from Leinart to Bush to set up the whole schpeel, Notre Dame should of shut down that shit before it even happened. Thus, since they caused it, it's their loss. |

OTHER THINGS THAT WAS LEARNED: Since hiring the new athletic director at ISU, the football team is 0-3. Coincidence? ... Florida is the most incosistent team of the SEC, and needs a victory against Georgia, as well as some luck, to have any chance to win the East. ... Louisville can't play on the road, and also just lost the Big East title. ... West Virginia at South Florida will be the Big East game of the week next week. How many of you predicted that one? ... Big 12 Championship game should be removed of any TV broadcast. ... TCU won the Mountain West Conference. The closest contender, Colorado St, lost to BYU and has two conference losses. ... The Sun Belt should be replaced by the Gateway Conference. ... You can't get more average than the Conference USA East. ... Temple can actually contend, only losing by 31 to Miami. ... Calfornia is this year's Pac-10 disappointment. ... UCLA needs to stay out of Washington. ... Alabama and Texas Tech are the two most likely teams to lose their first game next week. ... Vanderbilt will never have a nationally telecast game for the remainder of the season.
