Olympian Review - Week 2

Let's get one thing straight...these olympics haven't been the most exciting, nor the best televised olympics ever. And they will never be as good as the summer olympics, mainly because all us Americans attribute winter sports to basketball...and aren't those played in the summer olympics anyway? I've realized no one gives half a fuck about hockey, everybody hates curling, ice skating isn't all it's cracked up to be, and ice dancing ruled half of the entire two-week broadcast.

This picture might be too big for a person so small. Hmm, you don't like the media and yet you purposely tell them everyday that you don't? Then you make big hype about yourself and everybody (including that hateful media of yours) favors you to win the 5 events you enter. Well that was fuck-up number one. The second one was actually showing up at Torino.

your first event. Then you get disqualified. Then you can't even finish. Finally you get a placing, albeit somewhere 6th or 7th (doesn't really matter now does it?). Then you decide to end things off nicely on a second disqualification. Nice job asswipe. With your cocky attitude you may Terrell Owens look like the Pope. I'm tired of guys like you, and until you have something to back up the shit that flies from your mouth, shut the hell up. You made the US look worse then their men's hockey team.

NHL...What Really Is It Good For? |

It's not a big surprise...the US apparently sucks at all these kinds of sports in the olympics. But nothing was quite as bad as the 1-4-1 men's hockey team. Yes, that even includes the women curlers.
I wouldn't watch hockey to save my life, but even I knew they gave up too many power plays and 5 on 3 matchups. They were one of the lowest-scoring teams on the entire field, and honestly didn't deserve to make it to the final 8 field. If all you can beat is Kazahkstan (the only team to go 0-5) then there are some serious issues. Maybe the new rules in the NHL made these guys soft...or maybe it was the lack of kicking each others ass physically on the ice. When the world plays each other, you actually have to play the game of hockey, and not WWE. Clearly American hockey players don't know how to do that.
OK, so I'm a bit harsh. Some of the great NHL players were playing for other countries. Canada rings a bell. Oh wait, that's right...they were eliminated too! If only 5 or 6 NHL players were in playing in countries with decent teams, then you may want to move the NHL to THAT country. We won't miss it...I wouldn't mind the extra college baseball...oh, that's right. ESPN already made that smart move and ditched its ass.
And in case anyone's wondering, this was a bigger disappointment than the men's basketball team of 2 years ago in the summer olympics. |

US Finishes 2nd Overall in Olympics |

The US falls short of Olympic kingdom losing to Germany. Norway had a huge lead after one week, but then there was only one more event Norway could do well in that second week...the final biathlon. Unforunately, he had a couple costly penalties that made him finish with the bronze...something Norwegians have an excessive amount of. Silver medals as well. How many gold do you have again? |

Ohno vs. Davis, The Rivalry |

Shani Davis (black guy) and ...Ohno (surf dude) look very happy together in this picture taken in 2005. But they've had different roads in their quest of getting the gold in Torino this year in speed skating. Looking at this picture now gives you a certain shiver...or maybe it's because of that guy on the far left.
Davis has been called out my his teammates when he didn't run in the Men's Team pursuit. He certainly would have been a big factor as he almost got the record again in the single races when he received his gold. During the press conferences after, you could see Davis and Chad Hedrick sit far apart, and in the middle of it Davis finished his water bottle, got up, and left the room without saying a word, ditching Hedrick to the media. Hmmm, that doesn't sound hostile at all. On the other hand, you have the beloved Ohno, America's guy. He grabs the gold on the short track, and really has some massive skills when he cuts around corners to gain in placing.
Yes, they are the most skilled in long and short track, but it's up to you whether you like Terrell Owens or Peyton Manning. |

Hurricane Warning |

Yes, a star who's future may contain of even more sucking up, annonced that he would be doing a hurricane in the freestyle skiing. Well, he did, and he was completely unsuccessful. But what got me the most was when he was getting a post-game interview. He said that if he finished from 1st to 12th, he would be fine. Ummm...1st place and 12th place are little bit different, Speedy. You almost didn't even deserved to make it.
Without all the jumping up and down, arm waving in the year, and looking like you won the lottery, you completely fall on your ass after attempting the hurricane. You knew it wasn't geonna get it done when your ass hit the snow either. But I will say this: He's more enjoyable to watch on the screen. |

The Olympics weren't as bad as people made them out to me, but when the media just focuses on the things America loses, it won't be that much fun. 2010 could possibly be worse than this year. But we need to focus on one olympic event at a time, and then next one is in 2008 this summer. Featuring boxing, basketball, and those cool dives, much more people will be watching the olympics then. Period. |
