| When do you know that you have skin cancer? The first sign is a change in size, shape, color, or feel of an existing mole. Melanomas, the worst form of skin cancer, usually have a black to blue-black area. ugly-looking moles are not to laugh about they could be cancer! Watch out for skin cancer! Think ABCD when doing this! Assymetry When the shape of one half of the mole is not the same as the other Border The edges are irregular; pigments are spreading to the surrounding skin Color Shades of black, brown and tan may be present (irregular colorings). White, grey, pink and blue are also possibilities. Diameter If the mole is more than inches, get a check up. Body check up: Make sure you check your body every once in a while, as cancer.gov shows in How to do a skin self exam click on the link below. Check your whole body and look for any irregularities in new and existing moles. Know your birthmarks and see how they feel. http://www.cancer.gov/cancer_information/doc_wyntk.aspx?viewid=8f3e1c39-1ba0-4a7e-9088-e03c592c5395#29 If you find some of the symptoms present in your body, dont be afraid to consult a doctor.
