| Flood of January 2005 | ||||
| Here are some picture of the flood that destroyed hundreds of homes and did millions of dollars worth of damage. Some of the pictures are from September 2004 and from January 2005. The flood of September 2004 was one of the worst floods we have had since 1998. This flood wiped out hundreds of homes and we even lost a few lives. It was so bad it almost flooded the Bellville Locks and Dam. The flood of January 2005 was bad but not the worst for us. In Athens Ohio, East State Street was flooded and many stores and other businesses were shut down. There was about 4 foot of water covering East State Street. There was no way to get to Wal Mart. At one point before the water got tooo high there were people being transported to Wal Mart through a Ryder truck. On the news it said that one woman almot drowned trying to leave the parking lot of Wal Mart. As you all know I work at that Wal Mart. I called on Friday to see if I was supposed to come to work and they said yes. . so I parked my car at the bike path and walked the 20 minutes to Wal Mart. I reached the doors and pounded on them for 25 minutes and nobody let me in. .. needless to say I never got to actually work. I got to drive around Athens and take pictures. . It was a rather interesting day. |
