| Rococo |
| Rococo was popular during the 18th century in France, especially among the new wealthy and influential middle-class that was beginning to rise. The style was mostly used in interior decoration. The most famous artist of the movement, Francois Boucher, was known for his lighthearted mythological paintings and landscapes. His style became the epitome of the court of Louis XV. His works were often characterized by their illustrations of stories with Arcadian shepherds, goddesses, and cupids. |
