A French Art Movement in the second half of the 19th century, Impressionism was characterized by the use of small brushstrokes of pure colour and the painting out of doors inorder to catch the impression of colour and light. Impressionists often use a lot of color, and their pictures are very bright and vibrant without the use of detail but with bold colors. Artists of the movement include Edouard Manet, Camille Pissaro, Edgar Degas, Claude Monet, and Pierre Auguste Renoir. I actually chose to use this movement for my own painting, and I was especially inspired by the works of Claude Monet who was known for his works outdoors and his capturing of the subtle changes in the atmosphere.
