| In Character Generation use only the listed races unless otherwise approved by one of the Council. Each race is it's own. There can be no half Ferali half corinians or any other combination due to the fact that each race has a different number of chromosomes. This eliminates the ability for races to cross breed. The council has final say in any and all matters. As well as exclusive Recruiting and Booting privileges. If you want someone to join simply tell them to email us or PM us and more than likely we will allow it. This is just to assure that everyone involved is fully aware of the rules in making a SoR character. Do not under any circumstances mix OOC disputes with IC disputes. Remember, a person's character may act differently than the person themselves. Something one's character does IC should not be considered offensive OOC and vice versa. If both players agree you may settle OOC disputes IC. No Supernatural abilities. SoR is about surviving in a harsh environment plagued by strife and malcontent. The use of abilities such as Magic, Energy attacks, time alteration, etc. Would take away from characters having to struggle to survive. If you absolutely need an IC reason to why such abilities are not allowed then here it is. "The planet of Corinia is surrounded by a strange dampening field. Somehow, (and we're not entirely sure why) this field supresses abnormal abilities such as Magic, energy manipulation, etc. Coupled with this the reigning deity has deemed that he/she will not bestow any holy abilities upon the residents of Corinia either. As such he/she has made a pact with the reigning Demon who agreed to do the same. Both mutually agreed to not impart any sentinals (angels or demons) upon the surface of Corinia" No Vampires. This rule has been added because of the overuse of vampires in the roleplaying community. Don't get us wrong, alot of us have vampire chars outside of SoR But due to the fact that most vampires are poorly played, or misused, AND because the rules governing vampires is largely based on a wide variety of sources, vampires will not be allowed on Corinia.Again should you absolutely need an IC reason here it is "Due to the fact that Kain, the undisputed Sire of all vampires existed on Earth and not Corinia, vampires would not exist on Corinia. And should one reach corinia by way of ship (since any attempt to magically transport oneself to corinia would end with the brutal destruction of the character upon contact with the field) he would find himself stripped of all his powers and also find the blood of Corinians to be tainted in a way that he could no nourish himself. Since the plant of Corinia is so plluted the blood of every creature on Corinia has had to adapt, thus making it poisonous to Kindred." Technology. This isn't a rule persay but more of a guideline. Since SoR is Tech/Fantasy it's kind of difficult to set a proper level of technology. Basically any sort of ballistic weaponry is allowed. This means lasers, particle beams, ion cannons, etc are out. Also nanotechnology is out. There is some engine propulsion but it is exclusively reserved to the airships. No jetpacks ^_^ Oh..and no flying T-rex's with jetpacks and cluster rockets. In fact rockets are also exclusively reserved for airships and mounted weapons. no handle held rocket launchers and if you must have one it will be shoulder mounted and require a reload after each shot. I think that takes care of technology but if anything is unclear email me or post in on the message boards. Changlings/Shapeshifters. Basically these are allowed but have certain drawbacks. They must have a normal form, they may not shift body parts into weapons, and if they do take on another's appearance the change lasts only an hour before they automatically revert back to their normal state. This ability is on a trial basis and if it is overly abused in any way it will be retracted. Mounts: If you are creating a mount as a character or for your character to ride, please stick with the mounts that will be outlines on the Race page. Mainly, Drakes, Gryphons, and Pegasi. If you have an idea for a unique mount please post it on the message boards or PM either me or J33F.Keep in mind that any mount will not have any sort of breath weapon, magical abilities, etc. Think of them like a knight riding a horse, except in the air. The Drakes and Gryphons may be used in combat due to their beak/jaws and talons. Melee weaponry: This is one of the widest areas in SoR. Basically anything goes. But to reiiterate the previous rules no magical weaponry. No enchanted items. However weapons from any time period and culture may be used. From the Japanese Kusari-gama to the English hand and a half sword. You may even have technologicaly advanced weapons, but we ask that you run these by us first before implementing them. Also keep in mind that while carrying a larrge variety of weapons may seem like a good idea, often times the person using a simple cutlass and knife will win out since he is much more manueverable than the weighed down guy carrying 12 or so weapons. Be realistic in our weapon choices. Projectile weaponry: Again this is a very diverse catagory. This one includes Guns and other such projectile weapons, IE: Bow and Arrows, Slings, catapults, etc. For Guns we ask that you keep it within reason. If it exists today then it is very much allowed. (exception: no laser sights) We ask that any automatic weapons you may have should use a standard clip issued with that gun. No massive 70 round clips. However if a gun is belt fed than that would be an exception. However most belt fed weapons require two people to operate. One to aim and fire, the other to feed. For pistol you may have anything from a single shot black powder pistol to a desert eagle .50. but in the case of Desert eagles and other such weaponry that is brand name, please think up some other name to refer to it by since this is a different planet than earth. The chances are a Desert Eagle would be called something different. Before you decide to use a weapon that might be somewhat iffy run it by us so we can approve it. Armor: This is a bit of a touchy subject. Since there are no powers or enchanted armors, you should really put alot of thought into what your armor is made of and how wearing it will hinder your characters movements. For the most part any armor is allowed. However refrain from using made up materials that the current technology level could not create. If you must, at least describe the various metals going into the making of your metal so others can get an idea how it would function.Keep in mind alot of the rping is on airships or on some sort of mount. so in alot of cases any armor over a light mail or studded leather would not be seen. Flak jackets and kevlar are allowed but remember that they are usually heavy and limit mobility somewhat. |
