  STREET RACING impromptu_________________________

    RULES OF ENGAGEMENT

Watching street races, its amazing how something like this is pulled of without any formal organization

by some group. Street races are a self-organizingbunch. People go and  know what to do.Sure there are organized

races between individuals or teams with bets involved, from a low of Php500  to Php10,000 or more. But for those

who go to the races to test their  machines, wannabee street racers must have a basic knowledge of what the procedures

are. Racing in popular areas such as Libis is different from randomly picking or getting picked on when your driving.

     TO CHALLENGE

Most informal street races usually start when when you intentionally pick on somebody and see if he

bites or the other way around. It is akin to a secret underground language that street racers instinctively know when

they are being challenged. All it needs is a simple gesture, sometimes to subtle that most people don't even notice.

     SAFETY

Curiously enough, everyone who races has the utmost emphasis on safety, with drivers wearing seatbelts

all the time and sometimes even four-point harnesses ( exemples: SPARCO, RECARO, COBRA, BRIDE etc..)

Spectators with parked cars exit through the passenger side door and stay on the sidewalk. Cars who wished to leave

are given a chance and the race is put on hold until the stretch is clear, Under no circumstance do people cross the street.
