Walking Log August 2002   Gougane Barra
18th August
A small group took to the hills and walked the classic Gougane Barra circuit.
A grey day, but apart from a light shower we stayed dry.

We took a different route to the full circuit, coming straight down from the Source of the Lee. The first part of the descent was difficult - long, wet grass on a steep hillside, with hidden holes to trap us and thousands of midges to challenge the best Scottish hillside in August.

However once into the trees we entered a different world, with everything covered in a rich green moss.

Once we were down to the floor of the valley we then walked back through the Gougane Barra park area, and continued to marvel at the rich green carpet between the vast pine forest. There are also some interesting walks here, both high and low level which we must explore.
