Walking Log
July 2002
Kilcoe Castle
June 30th we walked in the rain (again) from Kilcoe Church and the Cross House around the quiet roads and tracks to Kilcoe Castle. We were privileged to be able to walk around the castle. It's pretty impressive close up.

Needless to say we all got VERY wet, again. When is summer this year?
Coomerkane Valley
July 7th eleven of us walked a classic valley and ridge around the Coomerkane Valley, to the west of Glengarrif Woods.

This was a fairly strenuous hill walk over 5 hours, with some interesting gully climbs and descents. Although the day was cloudy and misty, we had great views of Bantry Bay to the south and Knockboy and the Cahas to the north and east.

On the top it was quite flat terrain and covered in small lakes.  There were a few interesting moments as we traversed the bogs.
