Walking Log August 2003
             - Cummeengeera
Sunday August 24th we walked around Cummeengeera. We walked into the valley to the group of houses where the tale of Sean Rabach and the murder took place in 1800, as described by Daphne Puochin Mould's article in the Mizen Journal No 10. After exploring the houses we walked up to the lake where the inhabitants used to take the cattle up to to higher pastures and Booley in the summer months. A custom still carried out today in the Swiss Alps of course. We then contoured round the ridge and descended to our starting point. 6 hours in all - a walk that made us really aware of the countryside and it's place in history.
