Walking Log January 2003- Hungry Hill
19th January
A small group of six meet up at The Eccles Hotel where CWG are also leaving for a walk from the Tunnels back to Glengarrif.
The forecast is "showers" and the skies above the Beara Peninsular black and full of rain. However the showers forecast turns out to be 100% accurate. We have a great day.
We take the route directly up the face, returning down the SE ridge. Both ascending and descending this is not a mountain where you can remember an exact route - you have to work it out on the hoof. Going up "a little scrambling" gets mildly interesting at times! Going down the ridges needs patience as we find seemingly easy paths lead to sheer drops. 4 1/2 hours round trip including lunch.
