Walking Log November 2002 - Sheeps Head Path
24th November
Following a week of floods and heavy rain, the weather for this Sunday promised to be truly awful - showers, heavy at times, especially in the South. On the Sunday morning 13 intrepid walkers turned out of bed early prepared to get wet.
I admit the first picture is a Blue Peter - one I took earlier; BUT to our great surprise the weather stayed pretty dry, and got better as the day progressed.
We walked north from Toreen along the ridge to Letterwest. This is a beautiful ridge - with constant views of Dunmannus Bay.

From Letterwest we tracked over the peninsula and then back along the coast line with great views of the Mizen.

This is truly great coastline, with dramatic cliffs and sheer drops, together with crashing waves. For the last two hours we walked in bright sunshine, wishing that we had brought our sunscreen. You'd better believe it. A brilliant 5 1/2 hour walk.  Does it get better than this?
