Let Me Know You

Rick O'Connell walked down to his Kitchen for breakfast. When he walked in he saw his wife and brother in a huge argument about something.

"Evy I just don't see the big deal. It isn't that much. I will send it to the dormitory." Jonathan reasoned with his sister.

"Fine, but we haven't even spoken to her since mum and dad died. Send enough to get her through the rest of the year. I miss her Jonathan. Why didn't she just come with us? Or visit!? She is still in London correct?" Evy said as she walked into the parlor which connected to the kitchen. "I think so. I believe that she is in our old house. "

The siblings walked in the kitchen to see a slightly bewildered Rick. "Morning" Rick said as he scrambled his eggs for breakfast.

Both siblings simply nodded and Jonathan was about to say something else about the money he was supposed to send when Evy glared hard at him and stood up. "Well, I am going to be late if I don't leave. Bye sweet fiance of mine." She said as she leaned over and kissed Rick passionately. "Bye Jonathan." She leaned over and kissed him on his cheek and whispered in his ear "Send the money." Then she was off for another day at the museum.

Back in the house Rick was just cleaning off his dishes when he broached a sensitive subject. "So who are you sending cash to, Jon? Tell me. I think I should know. Don't you agree?"

Jonathan looked up from his paper with a start. "Wh-what money?" Rick walked over to him and sat down across the table putting his hands behind his head in a leisurely fashion.

"Jonathan will you just tell me. I heard you and Evy fighting and I heard her whisper it in your ear. Now tell me!? Jonathan put his paper, defeat clearly written on his face. "Rick, did you ever ask Evy about our past? I mean you are her future and she is totally different now since she has you but I mean her and my past. Did she ever bring it up?" When Rick shook his head Jonathan proceeded.

"So she never told you about Gracie? Well, what I am about to tell you, you need to understand that it is a *very* sensitive subject for both of us but Evelyn especially. Gracie is our nineteen year old sister. When my parents died it hit us all hard. Me and Evy dealt with it with sorrow when Gracie dealt with it with anger and rage. And Evy being the mother hen that she was, it really hurt her. When we decided to move here to Cairo, Grace was so mad at us that she stayed there. We haven't really spoken to her or seen her since. I call her every now and then to make sure she is all right and last time I called she said she needed money. I am sending it to her and that is what made Evy mad."

Rick was shocked that Evy never told him but in his own right he understood because he knew what it was like when Family becomes enemy. But all anger aside he was still very curious. "Well, I understand where she is coming from for not telling me. Anything else I should know? Please tell me alittle about her because now that I think about it, all I know is that you used to live in London, your folks are dead, and what they did for a living...and now your younger sister. Anything Else?"

Jonathan sighed and nodded."Well, our parents were both Egyptologists.

"As a kid I was the level headed one and Evy was the problem child. I mean she was a good kid but she has a mind of her own that you well know of I'm sure. Well, she would talk back to the teachers and stuff at school and I remember one incident where some older boys were teasing her for being sort of a tomboy so she...decked both of them. Well, she soon grew out of that and became more of a lady. When she was about 17 though I remember her climbing down the balcony to go to a party with allot of her friends. she came home at three o'clock the next morning.  She would've gotten away with it if at the exact moment she drove up one of our servants was letting our the dog in the back and saw her climbing to her window after kissing her boyfriend good-bye. My dad was so mad it was funny. Well, to me it was.

"She has many weird talents too. She used to be able to disassemble the motor to my dads car but I doubt she remembers much of that. Her and my dad spent allot of time together because of Egypt and learning so when she was younger he taught her about cars. My Mom taught her about being a lady. She was close to both of them. My mother almost jumped the guy that cheated on Evy in high school. It would've been pretty funny to see that if you ask me." When Jonathan finished telling him about what he remembered most about their childhood the look on his brother-in-laws face was priceless.

A mixture of shock, amusement, and surprise was clearly evident in his eyes. Jonathan felt kind of nervous for telling stuff that he should've let Evelyn. "Cars? Really? You would never think that Evy knew anything about cars. Now decking some guys I could see but cars and sneaking out...she has changed." Rick still had trouble swallowing the fact that Evy could know anything about cars and automotive. Why wouldn't she tell him?

*Later that Evening*

Rick and Evelyn sat out in front of their house on the porch in each others arms. Jonathan was gone for the evening until later on tonight when all his money was gone and he has gotten the crap beaten out of him. Rick's mind just would not rest all day after his conversation with Jonathan that morning.

"Evy, Who is Gracie? I heard you and Jonathan talking about it this morning so I asked Jon and he told me about it. Among other things too but I want to know what happened from you." When Rick said the word 'Gracie' Evelyn's eyebrows shot up and so did her head that was resting on Rick's shoulder.

"What did he tell you?" Nervousness etched in her voice.

"Um...he told me about you decking two guys that were messing with you, he told me about you climbing down a balcony and almost getting away with it, and the most surprising one--" Before he could finish she cut in with: "Oh God he told you about the car thing!" When he nodded her heart felt like it was going to stop.

"Why didn't you tell me? I can't believe you know about engines." Rick said as he saw his panicked future wife. "That isn't me anymore. I am different now. I didn't like that person I was. I was too tomboyish and I would rather be the scholar. I didn't tell you because I didn't want you to see me as that disobedient teen that I was. I can't believe he remembered me sneaking out! I would've gotten away with it if it wasn't for that stupid dog too." She said with an apologetic look.

"I love you now. I don't care about your past. All that I care about is you. I do want to know why you didn't tell me about your sister though." When Rick said that he got a look from Evy that said 'don't make me tell you.' She sighed and figured there is no need in putting it off anymore.

"Rick, she hurt all of us but me especially when she didn't come with us. She and I had our tantrums every now and then but all in all we were close. Grace got angry with me and Jon for leaving. She told us that we were running away from who we were. From our parents. The last I heard she was moving to the states to look for a job. She wants to find a job in Art. I believe she wants to be an artist. When we were younger, my parents bought her all the materials she would ever need. I guess we were all in tune with my parents. When they were around of course. We didn't get to go with them on digs until we were much older. We both have stubborn pride I guess and won't say sorry first. I am so sorry you had to here about this through Jonathan. I should have told you sooner." She leaned against him again as a silent tear made it's way down her cheek.

"It's OK, sweetheart. I'm just glad you let me know you." He said as they both got up and walked into the house.

So what do you think?! Review for me. Thanks! Oh and should I write a little sequel type thing?? You tell me!!
