Summary: This story does not follow the line of the movies so don't thwap me for it. It takes place a few years after the first movie. Alex is in this, and he has a sister named Christina Omorose-which is Beautiful in Egyptian. This is not a story, that has a happy ending so to speak, but sometimes you write what you feel.

Christina.

It was a few months after Alex turned three, that Evelyn ,who was working at the museum, as well as being a mum, started to feel the weight of that on her shoulders. It was late when she arrived home one night, feeling worn to the bone. As she walked in the door, all was quite. She set her bag down on the hall side table, and went down the hall, into the parlor, where she found Rick waiting for her. He stood and she came into his arms, resting against him with almost all of her weight.

"Have you eaten?" he asked, knowing very well that she had not.

"Not yet. I'm just ready to go to sleep," She admitted, as he kissed the top of her head.

"I'll bring dinner up to you." She nodded and went upstairs, and down the hall to the first door on the right, which was cracked open. Gently, she opened it a little more, and walked silently over to the bed which held her little boy. Alex was sound asleep, holding his teddy bear close, with his little bottom stuck up in the air. She smiled, and wasn't sure why, but he had always slept that way,

even when he was a tiny baby. His covers were kicked of, and gently she pulled them over his small body. In response, Alex rolled onto his side facing her, still asleep. Gently she placed a kiss on his cheek, then went on to the room she and Rick shared. There, she took of her blouse, and skirt, her nickers, and her bra and went to her dresser, getting out a soft white nightgown and pulled it on. Feeling dizzy, she held on to the dresser, until she felt she could make

it to the bed. Once she was in it, she tried hard to stay awake, to wait for her dinner, and more importantly her husband, but that didn't happen, and sleep claimed her exhausted body.

Downstairs Rick finished getting dinner for his wife, and walked up to their room. He found her asleep, and sighed. What was he going to do with her, then smiled. He just needed to love her, and that was his favorite part of their marriage, among other things. He set the trey on his side of the bed, and went to her side, leaning in and gently kissing her lips, which woke her.

"Hey I have dinner waiting." He helped her sit up, and once she was comfortable he placed the trey over her lap, and settled in beside her.

"So what did Alex get into today?" she asked, as she ate some cabbage. Rick chuckled

"The more appropriate question is what didn't he get into," Rick responded.

"I took him to the park today, and he ran off on me, twice. He thinks it's a fun game, and it gives me a heart attack when he does it. So that second time we left, and he had a tantrum." Evleyn nodded, inhaling what he had put infront of her, not realizing that she was as hungry as she was.

"How did you deal with his tantrum?"

"I just held him still, and he eventually gave up." She nodded. Rick looked at her plate and his eyes got big.

"You were hungry I see." His response made her realize how fast she had eaten, which wasn't very lady like.

"I guess I was hungry," she admitted, still exhausted as he took the trey from her. Before more could be said Alex walked in rubbing his eyes.

"Bed wet," he said. Knowing that mum was in need of sleep, Rick went to handle things, or try, but Alex protested.

"Not you want my mum," he said. Evelyn got up, feeling better now that she had eaten, and led Alex into their bathroom while Rick went to change the sheets in his room. In their bathroom Evie ran water into the tub, and while it was filling, got his wet clothing off of him, wondering how much Rick had let him drink before bed time. Alex was fully potty trained, with the exception of nights, and accidents were common. Once she had him undressed she sat him on the potty and he went a little.

"Done," he told her. She put him in his bath, shutting off the water, and he asked for his boats.

"Not tonight darling, its time for bed." She got his body clean efficiently, and as she was drying him, Rick brought in a clean pair of underwear and pajamas. Evelyn felt her stomach churning, and stood swaying. Rick caught her.

"Hey whats wrong?"

"I ate too fast."

"Go to bed, I'll finish here," he said kneeling down to Alex ,who was still pretty wet. Evie left, and he didn't like that.

"Noo not you." Alex swung to hit him, and Rick caught his hand.

"That's enough Alex," Rick said sternly. Alex cried, more tired than anything else. Once he was in his pajamas, Rick lifted him into his arms, and carried him to Evelyn's side of the bed for a goodnights kiss.

"Night Mum love you," Alex told her as she kissed his lips.

"I love you too, sweet dreams." He nodded, nestling against his fathers chest as he was carried back into his room. Rick put him in his clean bed and covered him up.

"Go to sleep." Rick said, as he leaned in and gave him a kiss of his own.

"Will love you daddy." Rick gave him another kiss.

"Love you too buddy." After checking the locks on the main doors of the house, Rick returned to his bed, finding Evelyn fast asleep. He took off all his cloths, and eased in beside her. Even in sleep she rolled into his arms, and for tonight he just held her there.

The next moring she was sick, and Rick called Doctor Brown, their family friend, and Doctor. When he arrived Elaina answered the door with Alex in her arms.

"No shots," Alex said wanting to be put down.

"Not for you," Dr. Brown said tousling his hair.

"Mr. and Mrs. O'Connell are upstairs, he said you knew what room was theirs," she told him. The doctor nodded, and went upstairs, down to the last door, knocking lightly. In a moment the door opened to a worried Rick.

"She's still in the bathroom," he said.

"I'll help her." Rick nodded and left, not really wanting to, but doctors were funny about that sort of thing. Downstairs he found Alex and Elaina making a puzzle.

"Daddy help us," Alex said. To keep from worrying Rick did just that, but he was still worried. They completed two of his smaller puzzles, when the doctor came back downstairs.

"How is she?" asked Rick.

"She will be fine with some rest. Make sure she doesn't go in to work for a few days, and make her rest, thats important." Rick led him out then ran up stairs. In their room Evelyn was sitting up in bed, starring at her hands. He went over to her and knelt down.

"What did he say? He told me you need to rest." She looked up at him with tears in hir eyes, and his heart began to pound.

"We are going to have a baby," she told him. Rick was speechless for a moment, then he put his hand on her belly.

"Oh my god, I get to be daddy again." he kissed her, and then settle beside her, holding her, and the new life inside of her in his arms.

"So what do you want this time?" Evelyn asked him as he held her.

"I think we need a daughter," he admitted.

"I think that would be nice, then Alex will have a little sister just like Jonathan and I." He kissed the top of her head.

"Have I told you how much I love you?" he asked her." She sat up and turned in his arms.

"Yes, but you can show me." That totally shocked him, and he wasn't sure he should do this.

"But your sick."

"I'll feel better if we make love," She said, in a seductive tone that left goose pimples running down his arms. He smiled then. One thing about Evleyn being pregnant was that she had an unending hunger for them to make love, and that suited him just fine.

It was a few weeks later that Evelyn had Alex to herself, and she had out some of his baby pictures. She wanted him to feel a part of this, and not left out.

"Dat me?" he asked.

"Yes it is." the picture they were looking at was one of Rick asleep on a couch, and Alex, as a baby, asleep on his chest.

"Mum have baby in tum tum," Alex said getting up and turning around, leaning in and putting his cheek to her small little bump.

"Thats your baby too," Evie responded.

"My sisser." She smiled and kissed his head.

"Or your brother."

"No want a sisser like you and Uncle John," he said. That made her heart tug a little, and she wondered how he got so smart, and so sweet.

"See baby now?" he asked.

"Not yet, the baby has to grow in mum's tummy, and when she, or he is ready, then we will have a birthday party." Alex stood and clapped his hands.

"Have cake too," that brought laughter to his mum.

"Yes darling boy we will have cake as well. Now lets go in and get some lunch." She had promised Rick she would eat better, and though it was taking effort to remember, she was doing better. In the kitchen, Marie lifted Alex into his high chair and put his mashed potatoes and ham on his trey, with a small spoon, and he ate as best he could with that. Evelyn sat at the table, and thanked Marie

for both of them.

"It will be nice to have a little one in the house," Marie commented as she set the plate in front of her. Evelyn nodded, and smiled. It would be very nice indeed.

The baby was due in May, and by April, Evelyn felt like she was going to pop. When she had carried Alex he had settled high in her belly. This baby how ever, sat low, and Evelyn was constantly going to the bathroom, and her back ached non stop, like before with Alex. Today was a beautiful warm sunny day, and outside the family, including Uncle John was taking advantage of the warm sunny day. Evelyn sat on a blanket, beneath a huge tree, reading a book she had gotten from

her library. While she read, the guys were chasing Alex's big red bouncy ball around the yard. Right now Alex was in the lead kicking it away from his father and his uncle laughing.

"Can't get me," he yelled back at them. Jonathan came up behind him and lifted him into the air tossing him up. Alex laughed.

"Do gain Uncle John do gain," Alex yelled.

"I would but your getting to big to do that too," Jonathan said as he rubbed his back. After setting Alex on his feet, Jonathan stretched. Rick came over to him.

"You realize we have at least one more kid who will want you to do that." Rick said referring to the new baby who would be here in a few weeks.

"I know, I'll have to find better ways to play than to throw them up in the air." While his uncle and his dad talked, Alex went over to where his mum as sitting, and settled beside her laying his head on her belly.

"My baby talks to me," he said to her.

"And what does your baby tell you?" asked Evelyn.

"Wants to have a birfday," he said kissing her tummy. Evelyn reached down and stroked his hair.

"We will have one soon baby," Alex stood.

"Got to go play more now." He ran off, and Evelyn smiled placing her hand on her tummy as she felt the baby within jolt, with the hiccups, she guessed. She looked up as Rick came over ,and settled beside her.

"How is our little one doing today?" he asked rubbing a hand over her belly.

"Good, I think she has the hiccups." Rick smiled. Evelyn was trying to use she and he ,equally, but more and more, what was used was she, when the baby was refferd to. Rick placed a hand on her tummy and felt the little jolts.

"Does that hurt?" he asked looking up into his wife's hazel eyes.

"No, it just feels funny. The only time it hurts is when she kicks me, here." She placed his hand just below her ribs. Rick rubbed his hand back over her belly, and that touch seemed to calm the jolting.

"You have the magic touch," Evelyn said as he pulled her against him. They sat watching Jonathan and Alex chase after the ball.

It was late at night and everyone was asleep. Evelyn came awake suddenly, she wasn't sure why, but she felt like something was amiss. Carefully she rolled out of Rick's arms without waking him,and slipped out of bed. After pulling on a robe, she went down the short way to Alex's room. He was asleep, peacefully, with Cleo laying at the bottom keeping watch.

"Are you keeping him safe?" she asked her old friend. Cleo just yawned and went back to sleep. Once she was sure Alex was all right, she headed back to their room, and on the way something gushed between her legs, and she gasped.

Her water had broken, and with Alex it had happened shortly before he was born. She waddled back in to the room and went to Rick's side of the bed. Gently she kissed his cheek and he came awake.

"The baby is coming," She said. He sat bold upright.

"Are you all right?" She nodded and he got up and hugged her.

"There is a bit of a mess out in the hall. My bag of water broke, which is normal," she reassured. First he helped her into a dry gown then had her lay in bed.

"I'm going to wake Jonathan and have him keep Alex with him, then I'll call Doctor Brown. No I need to do that first." Before he could go she took his hand in hers.

"We will be fine." Rick took a deep breath and nodded. As he ran out he bumped his arm on the door, and she couldn't supress her laughter.

It seemed like hours since Rick, or the nurse had come down with any report of a baby in sight, and Jonathan sat with Alex asleep with his head on his lap. He was worried. He had been the one who had been there the first time, so he knew what to expect, but this time he wasn't there, and though he was glad that Rick would see this baby in to the world, he wished he could be there. Then he looked up as Doctor Brown and his nurse came downstairs looking tired. It was sunrise, so it had been hours since Evie's labor had started.

"How is my sister?" Jonathan asked.

"Doing good. Mr. O'Connell said you two can go up now." They saw themselves out, and Jonathan leaned down and kissed his nephews cheek.

"Come on Partner. Its your baby's birthday today," Jonathan said. Alex stretched and sat up.

"We see her now?" At his nod Alex got down and started to run ,then stopped and waited for his Uncle, and they went upstairs to Rick and Evleyn's room. Jonathan knocked lightly, and in a moment Rick opened the door lifting Alex into his arms.

"See baby," he said.

"Yes we will, but you have to be very gentle. Will you do that for daddy?" Alex nodded, and Rick noticed Jonathan hanging back.

"You can come too." Rick turned and carried Alex over to the bed where Mum sat against pillows looking at something he couldn't yet see. Once they were at the bed, Rick settled Alex next to his Mum, and Alex looked at what she had.

"That my baby?" Evleyn smiled at him.

"This is your siser," she said. Alex grinned.

"Uncle John Me have sisser," Alex said to Jonathan, who had come to stand next to his sister.

"I see that." The tiny baby had just finished nursing, and Evelyn lifted her from breast to Shoulder, and Alex got his first good look at her.

"She has little nose," he observed. Everyone smiled, and after the baby burped Evelyn laid her on the pillow she had on her lap so everyone could have a good look at her.

"What we naming her?"

"Christina Omorose," Rick told him, unable to take his eyes from that tiny little face. She looked like a little doll, and had a full covering of dark hair, that would no doubt be like her mothers hair. Alex leaned in and gave her a gentle kiss on her head.

"Happy Birfday baby," he said. Evelyn held him close.

"She seepen now, it time to pay,"

"She has to grow before she will be ready to play with you," Rick said. Evelyn smiled at her brother.

"Do you want to hold her?" Jonathan nodded, and in a moment he held her cradled in his arms.

"I do believe you are going to be a little princess," He said to her, kissing her soft hair. He smiled down at his sister who was looking exhausted.

"Hey Alex why don't we go pick some flowers for your sisters birthday," Jonathan said in effort to let them have some rest. He handed Christina over to her father, and Alex ran out, with Jonathan in hot pursuit. Rick just looked at his new baby girl, amazed that even though she was less than an hour old, she aleady had worked her way into his heart. She completed them, made them a whole family, and for a while life was blissful for them.

Chapter 2 : Bliss

Two years had passed quickly by, and Christina who was now two, was every bit the little lady. She wasn't big on adventures like her big brother Alex, and was not nearly as out going. In fact she was very shy, and every bit a daddy's girl.

Today, a Saturday, was a quiet day. Alex had gone with Jonathan to the park to fly a kite, and Rick, and Evie were playing chess ,while Christina had a tea party with her babies. She had on a soft pink dress that hung down to her ankles that had two layers, one that was solid, and one that was see through, which had little flowers that stuck out. The dress made her look like a little princess, which is what Alex and Jonathan called her. Her long hair was pulled back into a pony tail, and had a pink ribbon tied in. Now the little girl set about preparing for a tea party. She set up the miniature china cups that Uncle John had gotten her for her second birthday, as part of a tea set. When she was satisfied she poured from the little tea pot pretend tea, and gave one cup to her baby.

"Sasha, have to bow on tt.. Hot." She sat down and took a sip of her tea.

"Need have cookies." She got up and went over to where her parents were playing chess.

"Daddy need have cookies," Christina requested. Rick was trying to think of his next move, and when he made it he looked down at his baby girl.

"Hmm, I think two cookies are plenty," He said, reaching down to lift her on to his lap. She backed away.

"But need have for Sasha," came her reply. It was really hard to resist her, because she was so much like her mum, and had hazel eyes just like Evie. He looked over at his wife, who had made her move.

"Two are plenty. Can you pretend?" Evlelyn asked her baby. Christina nodded and went back to her dolls.

"Need cookies," she said softly. She looked up, and while they were otherwise occupied with their game, she went into the kitchen to get them herself. The cookie jar was shoved back against the wall on the Counter, but Christina was determined, and pulled a chair out from the table, shoving it over to the counter, then climbed up. She was still too short, but still determined, so she went out back into the parlor, and upstairs to the library, getting a big book, or one that was big to her, and brought it back downstairs. Neither mum, nor

daddy had any idea what she was up too. She put the book on the chair, and climbed back up, but she was still too small. Just then Alex and Uncle John came through the door, and Christina almost fell, but Uncle John caught her.

"What are you doing up on that chair hmm?" he asked as he cradled her in his arms.

"Need have cookie," she told him. Jonathan guessed she wasn't supposed to have them.

"I don't think so."

"But Sasha need cookie. Alex reached up and got one for himself.

"Alex have it, I have too," she said, squirming to be put down. Alex ran out, and she came after him running upstairs as best she could. When she got upstairs, she ran down the hall to his room, and pushed the door open, finding him eating the last cookie.

"Share me," she said in a sorrowful voice. While Alex loved his baby sister, he also took great pleasure in tormenting her.

"mmm this is so yummy." She watched as he ate the last bite.

"Want one too, you share, Mum say share, " she said almost in tears.

"Its in my tummy now," Alex said to her.

"Nooo." she started to cry, and ran out. As she reached the top step, mum was on her way up, and lifted her in to her arms.

"Alex not sharen wif me," she cried, tired.

"I'll talk to him," Evelyn said, carrying her to her room for nap time.

"Nooo," she cried harder when she saw what mum was doing, which was getting her ready for a nap.

"Want daddy rock me," she cried as Evelyn settled with her.

"Daddy and Uncle John had to go to town for a little bit. He will be here when you wake up," Evelyn said as she rocked her baby." Christina sniffed, and rested her head on her mum's shoulder.

"Want cookie," she said as her eyes closed. Evleyn sang softly an Egyptian lullaby that she had used when Alex needed to be comforted, and one her mum had sung to her. It, plus the gentle motion of the rocking chair, got Christina to sleep. After laying her down in the crib, Evelyn went across the hall to talk to Alex about not teasing his sister so much. He was playing with his soldiers.

"Alex, will you do me a favor and be nice to your sister? I know you think its fun to tease her, but it gets her upset, and you know better." He nodded.

"Okay I'll be nice to her." She shook her head, and left him to his soldiers, going back downstairs to start dinner.

Sleeping was the last thing on Christina's mind. She got out of her crib and went down the hall to her parents room, and straight over to Evleyn's vanity. After she climbed onto the chair, she reached for her Mum's pretty bracelet and put that on her wrist. It was huge and fell off to the floor making a clanking sound, but she just left, playing with other things she knew not to play with.

In his room Alex had heard something drop, and went to see what it was. He figured Cleo had knocked something down. When he went into his parents room, he found Christina sitting at Mum's vanity wearing most of her necklaces and powder all over the place. He laughed, and she turned around.

"I petty girl," She told him. Alex ran out, to the top of the stairs, looking down on his dad and mum, who were kissing.

"Mum dad, Christina got into mum's stuff you have to see this." That was not good news and both parents ran upstairs, following him in to their room, where Christina sat. Evelyn, try as she may, could not keep from laughing with the boys, which made her two year old cry.

"Oh baby its okay." Evie lifted her into her arms kissing her. Rick came over also placing kisses on her very powdery cheeks. The powder was also in her hair, and all over her dress. They went into the bathroom, and Rick ran the bath while

Evelyn got the Jewelry off of her baby, and cloths, then she settled her in the tub. Christina leaned back, letting mum get her hair wet, and yawned. While Evie washed her, Rick had gone out, and came back with another dress, a little yellow one with butterflies on it, as well as a clean diaper. When she was ready, Rick lifted his little girl out, and wrapped a towel around her, then carried her

into their room, and sat in the rocking chair that was there, and gently began to dry her long hair.

"You need to leave Mum's things alone," Rick told her as he finished getting her dried of.

"Want look petty for tea potty," she told him through a yawn. Rick kissed the top of her head.

"You are pretty without makeup and jewelry" he said, vaguely wondering what he would do when she was a teen, and wanted to dress up and date. He grinned, thinking that he would just show any guy she brought home his gun collection, and wait and see if the guy didn't treat his baby girl the way she should be treated. Once she was dry, and in clean cloths, Rick carried her back into her room and got her favorite book out, The Velveteen Rabbit, and settled down with her in her rocking chair.

"Need Sasha," she said in a sleepy voice. Rick stood and got the doll out of her crib, then settled back with her in the rocking chair, and began to rock ,while he read the tale of he Bunny who wanted to be real.

Downstairs Alex and Jonathan were playing checkers, and Jonathan grumbled as his nephew beat him again.

"I won I won," Alex said standing up, and doing a dance.

"I dare say I'd challenge you again, but I think I've had enough times being beaten by you," Jonathan said frustrated. He was the one who had taught Alex this game, and now the kid could beat him. As Jonathan walked off toward his own room, Alex put away his game, then went into the kitchen where mum was finishing the last minute Dinner preparations.

"Would you set the table please," she asked her son. Alex nodded, and got the four plates down from the counter, and put them around the table, then got glasses and put those around, and did the same with the napkins, and the silverware. While he did that Evie went up to see what her husband was doing. She went into their room, and when she didn't find him there she smiled, and walked to Christina's room. There she found him, still in the rocking chair with Christina against his chest, both asleep. With both of their babies, Rick had

always been the one to conk out with them asleep in a rocking chair or on the couch. Evie got the camera from their room and took a picture without waking them. After putting the camera away, she came over and leaned in kissing his lips. Rick opened his eyes.

"I guess I dosed off," he admitted. Evie just smiled.

"And that is why she never wants to sleep without us," she said light hearted.

"Dinners about ready," she said, rubbing their daughters back. Christina stretched and lifted her head.

"Are you ready to eat?" Rick asked her. She lay her head back against his chest.

Rick stood shifting her higher against his shoulder, and took his wifes hand. They walked down to the kitchen, where Jonathan had set out the food.

"Thank you Jonathan," Evleyn said. As Rick started to put Chrisina in her highchair, she protested by crying.

"Sit wif dad," she cried. Rick kissed her.

"You need to sit in your chair angel." She sniffed, but didn't fight it, and once she was situated, family meal began. While they ate, Alex told them about kite flying.

"It was so fun, because we made it do dips, and stuff, didn't we Uncle John," Alex said as he took a drink of milk.

"We sure did partner"

"I go to," Christina told them.

"No way thats my special time with Uncle John," Alex said. Before an argument could be started, Jonathan looked at his niece.

"We will find something that is special for you and I." She nodded, very easy to please. As usual she was he first to finish, and tonight she didn't eat very much.

"Sweety, can you eat the rest of your green beans?" Evelyn asked.

"Not hungy," she said wanting out. Since he was finished, Jonathan got up, and lifted her out, and he and Alex decided to take her outside, while mum and dad finished dinner. Rick smiled at his wife.

"Do you still want to go out tomorrow night, and leave the kids here with Jonathan?" she nodded. Their times out were less frequent than with Alex due to her busy schedule, and just because it was hard to find anyone who could handle Christina when they left her. She usually cried, until she went to sleep, or until they got back, which ever came first, and they were trying to get her used to being with other people, but it was not easy to do.

Outside Jonathan, Alex, and Christina were in the Garden, and Christina was smelling the different kinds of flowers. Alex picked a smaller flower, and came over to her.

"Hold still a minute and I'll put this in your hair," Alex told her. She held still, and in a moment she had a few flowers in her hair, thanks to Uncle John and her brother.

"I fower pincess," she said.

"You are, you could be a Faery," Alex told her.

"Not, got have ings," she said. Ings was wings for her. Jonathan thought a moment.

"I think I know a way to make her some, but it will take a bit to get what I need," he said. Christina clapped her hands.

"I want be Faery if ings," she said. They played a little longer, then it started to get chili, so they went inside where Mum and dad were finishing with the dishes.

"Come on Christina, I'll push you around on your horse," Alex said. She ran with him, in to the parlor, and once she was on her hobby horse, he pushed her around the room getting laughter from her.

"Dis fun do more Alex do more," She said to him. They played for a while longer, then Rick came in, and Christina jumped off her horse and tried to run out, but he caught her and lifted her into the air.

"Noo bed daddy I up wiff you, mum," she said struggling to be put down. Evelyn came in with a small cup of water, and Christina sighed and laid her head on Rick's shoulder.

"Say goodnight to Alex," Rick said, kneeling down to let his son kiss her. Alex walked over and kissed her cheek.

"Night night Sis," Alex told her.

"Night Alex wuv you," He gave her another kiss, then it was up to bed.

It was later that night that Alex had a dream. He was walking around the house looking for something, but he didn't know what. He kicked something, and looked down finding Sasha, Christina's favorite baby. He called for her, and heard her crying, then came awake. He rubbed his eyes, and got out of bed going out of his room and across to hers. In her crib she was fast asleep, safe, and once he was sure he went back to bed.

Chapter 3 : Bliss unraveled

It was a few evenings later when Rick and Evelyn finally got their night out. Jonathan was staying with the children, and there was very little fuss from Christina, when they left for their night on the town. Now she was in her nightgown, running from Uncle John who was crawling on his hands and knees after both she and Alex.

"Help Alex he gonna tick me?" Jonathan snagged the back of her nightgown, and pulled her back as she laughed. He laid her on the floor and nibbled her neck getting screams of laughter from her before Alex came over and tackled him.

"Oh well, now I have two children to eat." Jonathan pinned both of them down, taking turns tickling them. It was the chime of the old grandfather clock which let him know that a certain little girl needed to be calming down for her bed time.

"Its time to settle down," He said to both of them.

"Not bed time I got wait for daddy," She said, as Jonathan lifted first her, then Alex to their feet.

"How about some milk, and one cookie, but you can't tell on me?" That got happy responses from both of the children, and they ran in to the kitchen., settling at the table, Christina with her brother's help. Jonathan got two cookies from the jar, and poured two small cups of milk, then came to the table. He set one cup infront of Alex, along with the cookie, and the other in front of Christina, lifting her out of her seat, and settling there himself, with her on his lap.

"Uncle John what do you do when you have scary dreams?" Alex asked around his cookie.

"Well, I talk about them. When I was little it was to my mum, then when she passed away, I talked to your mum," he said, helping Christina steady her cup, as she drank milk from it.

"I keep having ones about me being here all alone, and finding her baby, then hearing her screaming and crying, and I can't find her." Alex was truly worried.

"Maybe it was the time she got lost out in the woods," Jonathan offered trying to ease his fears. Alex nodded, hoping so, but there was something not right about them, and he was afraid.

"All right Princess, its time for you to go to sleep."

"Rock me, Sasha seepen?" She asked through a yawn. Jonathan stood cradling her in his arms.

"I will" Then he looked at Alex. "Are you coming?"

"Okay." They all went up to her room, and when Jonathan was seated, he made room for Alex, and held both of them on his lap.

"Uncle John?"

"What Partner?" Alex hesitated.

"What if my dreams mean that something bad is about to happen," he said." Jonathan hugged him closer.

"Nothing bad will happen. Now what story should I tell you two?"

"Bought princess in Gypt," Christina said to her Uncle, so Jonathan began.

After dinner, Rick and Evelyn took a drive out in the countryside. She had been quiet this night, and he knew something was on her mind. He found a back road, and pulled of to the side, gathering her close in his arms.

"You have been awfully quiet," He said to her. She rubbed her cheek against his shirt.

"Alex told me something today, and I'm not sure what to make of it. We have had almost 6 years of a perfect life. We have two beautiful children, and I have you, and I don't want that to change." She let out a sigh, and he kissed the top of her head.

"What was it that Alex told you?" he asked, a little frightened.

"He has being having dreams at night about being alone in our house. He told me that he keeps finding Sasha, without Christina, and he hears her crying, but can't find her. I keep telling myself that its just a dream, but what if its more?" she asked, as she turned in his arms.

"Evie, she is a healthy, beautiful little girl, and it was just a dream. We have what we have always wanted, and nothing will take that away from us. Now lets go home and make sure our treasures haven't tied Jonathan up and raided all the cookies." That got a laugh from her, and afte a kiss they returned to their home.

It was quiet when they arrived home, and after locking up, they went up to the second floor, and down the hall to Alex's room first. It was empty, so they opened Christina's door and found Jonathan asleep with both children cuddled against him. Rick smiled and moved over to the chair patting Uncle John's hand, which woke him.

"I guess I feel asleep on the job," he said softly, letting Rick take Christina out of his arms. She snuggled against him, still asleep as he walked over to her crib, and lowered her down to the mattress, all without a peep from her which was rare. While he tended to her, Evelyn had taken Alex and laid him down in his own bed. He woke up with a start.

"Where is she?" he asked frightened

"Shh, daddy just put her down in her crib." Alex calmed at her soft touch, and was soon back asleep. Evleyn pulled the covers over him, trying not to shutter at the unease that had settled over her. She came out of his room, as Rick and Jonathan came out of Christina's. Both thanked Jonathan for watching them, then they all went to their beds for a good nights sleep.

Morning came as it always did in the O'Connell house, with Alex awake first. He ran into his parents room and jumped into bed.

"It's time to wake up sleepy heads," he said as he sat on Rick's chest. Rick opened his eyes and grabbed Alex rolling him over and tickling him, with Evie joining in. Once he was thoroughly tickled they lay together, waiting for their other early riser to join them. She usually came in after hearing Alex howel in laughter, but this morning they waited and she didn't come. Evie frowned.

"Maybe we didn't make enough noise to wake her up," Alex said seeing his moms frown. Evleyn got a cold chill, and got up running out of their room and to Christina's. Her baby was still asleep, and Evleyn reached in feeling her head, but she was fine, and relief washed over her. The men in her life joined her.

"Me and Uncle John wore her out," Alex told them. On occasion Christina did sleep in, but it was very rare. They all went out, downstairs, to start breakfast, and the new day.

"I want scrambled eggs," Alex announced. Evelyn smiled and got out the ingredients she would need for that, and while she and Rick made breakfast Alex went back upstairs to get sister up. When he walked into her room, she was climbing out of her crib.

"Alex help," she told him. He came over and guided her to the floor.

"Have tea potty," she told him.

"Sure come on." He took her hand in his, and they went down to the parlor, where he set up her tea set, and they played a little until Mum came in.

"There's my baby girl, and my baby boy," Alex gawked at being called a baby, and ran into the kitchen, but Christina stayed where she was.

"Come on baby." Evelyn picked her up, and hugged her close. Holding her baby in her arms eased her fears about the dreams Alex was having. Christina was here, and she would stay here. In the kitchen everyone waited, and once Christina was in her high chair, breakfast began.

"Uncle John want to go to the Museum today," Alex said.

"Well, I am meeting a friend today. Perhaps later?" That made Alex frown, but he nodded. Everyone ate, except Christina, who moved her eggs around her plate.

"Christina eat please," Rick told her.

"Not hungy, " she said. Then she struggled to be out of her chair.

"Angel, you need to eat a few bites," Rick tried.

"Noo tum tum full," she told him. Evelyn frowned.

"But you haven't had anything to fill it with," she said.

"Not hungy." Rick stood, and lifted her out, sitting back down with her in his chair. She stayed in his lap, but still refused to eat. When Alex was finished she went with him to finish her tea party.

"How can she not be hungry," Evelyn asked, now concerned. Coming to her side Rick knelt down reminding her that Alex had done the same when he was going through growth spurts, and upon remembering that Evleyn relaxed some.

By lunch, Christina was fussy, and still refused to eat, which concerned both of her parents. Evelyn was desperate to get anything into her at this point, and offered her cookies, and cake, but she wouldn't even take that. It was Rick who suggested that they try getting her down for a nap, that maybe after some sleep she would want to eat. Now in Christina's room, Rick rocked her, as she rested

her head against his chest. He closed his eyes, feeling unease creep into him, and though he tried his best to push it aside, he knew something wasn't right with is baby girl. When she was finally asleep he laid her in her crib, and put her quilt over her, then walked out, and down the hall to their room where Evelyn was putting away clean cloths.

"She's asleep," He said coming over beside her. Evelyn looked up and he found tears running down her cheeks. Rick knelt beside her and pulled her into his arms.

"Oh Rick what if something is wrong with her," Evelyn asked.

"Then we will cross that bridge when we come to it. We have to think positive here Evie, she's done this before, its just the dreams Alex told you thats upsetting you so," he lied. In his heart he knew something wasn't right, but he had to reassure her, and himself, that all was well. Both were thankful that Jonathan's plans had canceled at the last minute, and that Alex was out with him.

It was several hours later that Christina woke up crying, and when Evelyn went in and lifted her out of her crib she felt warmth.

"Shhh, I'm here baby." Evelyn made herself remain calm, and after getting her daughter into a dry diaper, carried her downstairs where Rick was sitting looking at the paper.

"Sit with Daddy, and Mum will make you something to eat." She cried harder then.

"Nooo, want mum." Evelyn held her close rubbing her back, and couldn't hold back the tears.

"She has a fever," Evleyn said, her voice trembling with fear.

"I'll call," Rick didn't finish, any mention of the doctor would worsen Christina's mood. At Evelyn's nod, Rick went to do that, and Evelyn went into the Kitchen and got a bottle, pouring some tea in to it. When her babies had tummy aches, she generally gave them some tea, to ease the pain.

"Here sweety."

"Nooo," Evleyn closed her eyes, and just swayed with her, praying and hoping that this was just a regular tummy bug, and not something more serious.

It was a little before Dinner when Alex and Jonathan arrive home finding the other car gone. Alex had gotten a new model ship, and ran upstairs to set it up, while Jonathan went into the kitchen finding a note on the table from Rick. What he read made his heart sink. In the letter Rick had told him that Christina was very sick, and that they had taken her to the hospital to run some tests, and for him not to alert Alex to that fact. As Jonathan finished reading, Alex came in.

"Where are Mum, Dad and Christina?" Jonathan looked up.

"Not sure, so hows the ship coming along?" Alex pulled him along, and Jonathan said a silent prayer for his niece. Up in his nephew's room, the two of them set about putting out all the pieces of the ship, and as they got started, the phone rang. Jonathan left and went into the hall grabbing the phone out of the cradle, finding Rick on the other end.

"What's happening?" Jonathan asked softly.

"They aren't sure just yet. They found a blockage in her stomach, and think thats why she won't eat, so they want to remove it." Jonathan nodded.

"How is Evie holding up?"

"Not good, listen I need to go."

"What do I tell Alex." On his end Rick sighed.

"Nothing for now. I'll come home, or Evie, and one of us will talk to him." Jonathan said goodbye, and went back to Alex. The two of them had great fun talking and joking, and didn't hear Rick's entrance.

"Hey dad look what Uncle John got for me, its a war ship." Rick smiled, and sat down in his son's rocking chair, and Jonathan walked out.

"Alex come here." Alex looked up and noticed that his dad looked sad.

"Whats wrong?" Rick lifted Alex on to his lap. It as then that Alex realized he didn't hear his sister, and struggled to be put down. When Rick did set him down, he ran to his sisters room. It was like his dream.

"Where is she dad?" Alex cried as Rick came in after him.

"Your mum and I had to take her to the hospital because she wasn't eating...." Before he could finish Alex ran out and down the stairs putting his coat on.

"I have to take Sasha to her dad," he said with tears running down his cheeks. Jonathan came with the doll, and they all went to the hospital together.

After a long night of waiting for word on Christina's surgery, a doctor finally came into the private room where the rest of her family was. Evelyn and Alex were asleep in the bed, and Jonathan on one of the Couches. Rick had gotten little sleep, pacing back and forth. Doctor Brown walked over to him.

"We removed a mass from her stomach, that had filled it, which is why she wouldn't eat. She has a massive infection running through out her body, and we are doing all we can to find a way to heal her. Only time will tell if our surgery, and the antibiotics we are giving her will do the trick." Rick ran a hand through his hair.

"Can we see her?" He nodded.

"For now only you and your wife can go in," the doctor said. After he left, Rick woke Jonathan first ,and told him to stay here with Alex, then went to the bed and woke Evie, who managed to ease away from Alex without him waking up.

"We can see her now." They went out, and found Doctor Brown waiting, and he retold Evleyn about their daughters condition. When they arrived at the door, he left them to go in on their own. In the large bed, Christina looked so tiny and frail. A nurse sat with her, but upon their arrival she left. Evelyn held tight to her husbands arm as they went to her bedside. Rick reached out and took her hand in his, and she opened her eyes.

"Hi daddy," she said softly. Rick knelt down and kissed her forehead and her nose.

"Hi baby doll," he said back. Evelyn went to the other side, laying Sasha next to her.

"I seepy," she said. Evleyn stroked her hair.

"Then go to sleep, and daddy and I will be right here when you wake up," Evelyn said in a shaky voice. Chrisina closed her eyes, and Evelyn gasped turning away.

Gently Rick eased her tiny baby hand out of his, and went over to his wife holding her while she cried sofly against his chest.

"I don't want her to die Rick." He couldn't say anything in return, too over come by sadness himself. When the storm passed, and they parted, both of them sat on either side of their baby girl and watched her sleep.

In the other room, Alex was awake and yelling at his uncle to take him to see his sister, not listening to him about what the doctors had said.

"I don't care she's my sister not theirs." Jonathan was running out of things to say when Evelyn walked in. She had come to check on them, and when she entered, Alex came into her arms sobbing. She picked him up and sat down with him on the bed.

"I want to see her mum, " he said through his sobs.

"I know sweety, but she has to get better first." Evelyn half considered breaking hospital policy, and taking him to her, but the doctors said that younger children could pass germs, and right now Christina was too weak to fight them off.

"Shhh," she rocked him, and he cried himself to sleep. After laying him back in the bed, she got up, and Jonathan came and hugged her.

"If you want to you can go in and see her. I want to stay here with Alex." She told him how to get to the room, and he went upstairs to the next floor, and went inside where Rick was holding Christina in the rocking chair.

"Look who came to say hi," Rick said softly. Christina looked up.

"Unc John." He came over and kissed her head feeling that she was warm.

"Want mum," she said softly. A nurse came in at that point and Christina started to scream despite being weak, she still had fight in her which was a good sign, or at least Rick hoped. He held her still while the nurse checked her

temperature, and frowned.

"Its gone up again, you need to put her back in her bed, and we need to try and get her fever down." Rick nodded, and when he tried to put her down she latched on.

"Nooo," she cried. He kissed her cheeks.

"I'm right here Angel, I won't go." He got her calmed down, and the nurse came with a bowl of water and a wash rag.

"I'll show you what you need to do." She wiped Christina with the cold rag, getting sorrowful crys, and then let Rick do it. While he was tending to her, Jonathan went to get Evelyn.

"Stop daddy cold," Christina cried as Rick wiped the rag over her arms.

"I'm sorry baby, but we have to make you cool down," he tried. He didn't know how to explain to her why they had to do this, and hated that he was making her cry. When Evelyn arrived she sang to her, and that calmed her down and got her to sleep, then both of them worked on trying to bring her fever down.

Night fell, and Christina was worse. Her fever was high, and nothing they did was working. Doctor Brown and his colleagues were in with her now, as mum and dad waited for her, fear heavy in their hearts. Rick held his wife in his arms, swaying gently back and forth, trying to comfort both of them, then the door opened, and the Doctors, all except Doctor Brown left.

"I'm sorry, we have done all we can do for her, we are going to keep giving her shots, in hopes that it will kill the infection, but I'm afraid aside from that there isn't much more to be done. Evelyn pulled away from Rick, angry now.

"What do you mean that's all you can do for her. What did you go to school for, to save lives, and you can't even save the life of my baby. How did you get your title as a doctor." Evelyn yelled. Rick held her, and she cried hard in his arms. Doctor Brown left them, knowing it was just hurt talking, and hoped against hope that Christina would recover.

"Oh god Rick we are going to loose her to this," He just held her, letting his own tears fall, when the nurse yelled out for the Doctor. Rick and Evelyn tried to go in, but the door was shut in their face.

Listening to how his parents got married, was always a story Alex loved to hear, and right now he was safe in his uncle's arms listening to the tale.

"Did you like my father when you first met him?" asked Alex.

"Not one bit, he was very rude you know," That got a laugh from him, then the door opened, and dad came in, a grim look on his face.

"Dad, Uncle John said that you were very rude before you and Mum got married."

Rick nodded.

"He is right, I only used to think of myself," Rick told him, wishing right now he was back in that time, when he didn't have to tell his son that his sister was dieing.

"Alex, I'm going to take you up to see Christina now," Rick said kneeling in front of him.

"Good, is she getting better now?" Rick closed his eyes.

"No she isn't, and you can stay here if you don't want to see her, but this infection thats in her isn't going away, and the doctor says she doesn't have much time left."

"No, she's my sister." Alex started to cry, and Rick held him.

"I..want to see her." Rick stood, and they all went up to the little girls room.

Evelyn was rocking her, and looked up with tears in her eyes as the men in her life came in. After Alex was set down, he walked over to the bed and got her baby, then brought it to her.

"Christina, I have Sasha." She opened her eyes and he placed the doll in her arms, then rested his head against hers, and started to cry. Rick came and hugged him, trying to keep strong, knowing that this was the hardest thing any of them would ever have to go through, even worse than what happened with Hamunaptra.

Chapter 4: Loss, and Rememberance

A week passed, and no one knew how, but Christina was fighting to stay alive, and had beat the odds of what the doctors had given her. She was home now in her own bed, still unable to eat anything solid, so they had a feeding tube in her to give her nourishment. She slept most of the time now, and a nurse was staying with them to give her injections of antibiotic, as well as to monitor her vital signs

Downstairs Alex sat in the parlor, by himself, holding her baby in his arms. He was mad, and had not talked to anyone since Christina had come home. Uncle John walked in and noticed him sitting there.

"Hey partner, what say you and I go out to the park? We can take your ship and sail it in the lake," Jonathan tried.

"Can't," came his reply. Jonathan came and sat beside him.

"We should." The little boy sighed, and looked up at his uncle.

"What if she...she leaves while were gone?" Jonathan hugged him close.

"Why don't we go up and you give her a kiss goodbye." Alex nodded and took his uncle's hand and they went upstairs, and into the room where Dad was rocking her.

"We decided to go to the park," Jonathan informed. Rick looked at his son, and nodded. He felt bad, because both he and Evie had been so caught up with Christina, neither of them had paid much attention to him.

"Will you sit with her, and I'll go with him?" Jonathan nodded, and when Rick laid his baby in her uncles arms, Christina just sighed.

"Evie is asleep if you need her.." Jonathan nodded, and Rick took his son's hand and they left for the park

Outside it was a warm summer day. The park was full of happy people running and playing, and only two people, a small boy, and his father walked along the sidewalk not seeing the happiness. Rick stopped and got them a bag of peanuts, then they sat by the lake.

"Why would god take her away when she wants to stay with us?" Alex asked his father. Rick sighed. He was having a real hard with that one himself, but he knew Alex needed an answer.

"I don't know son. Everyone is born and put on this earth for a purpose, no matter how long or short their life is. I know its not going to be easy on any of us when she goes, but we will always have our memories of her." Alex started to cry.

"I don't want memories of her, I want my sister." Rick just held him. Holding back his own tears. Once Alex had calmed down they fed the ducks, and for a while Alex actually had a smile on his face.

When they arrived home they heard Christina screaming. Rick left at a dead run up the stairs finding Evleyn in Jonathan's arms and the door shut.

"Whats happening?" Evelyn came into his arms then.

"Her feeding tube isn't working, their trying to find another way," she sobbed. Alex came, and Jonathan knelt down and held him.

"We need to help her, their hurting her let go of me." It was Evelyn turn to be strong. She knelt down and pulled Alex into her arms.

"I want her better Mum, want her better." Evelyn rocked him as he cried.

"Me too baby." In a moment things quieted, then Doctor Brown came out, the look in his eyes told them it was not good.

"Can you go downstairs with Uncle John for a little bit?" Evelyn asked her son. He nodded and when the two of them were gone, the doctor spoke

"We were not able to insert the tube back into her. Her system is shutting down.

I can give her a shot for the pain, which will make her sleep, or you can keep her awake. Rick held Evie in his arms.

"We want you to give her a shot, but we want to see her before you do. Will you send up my son, and Jonathan?" Rick asked. Dr. Brown nodded, and left, and Rick led Evie into their baby's room. Christina was being held by the nurse, whimpering.

"Here's your mum and dad." She handed her to Evelyn, who settled in the rocking chair with her. She opened her hazel eyes looking up into her mum's matching eyes.

"Hurts," she said barely audible.

"I know it does, but when you go to sleep, all the hurt will go away, and you will be in a beautiful place." She looked at her daddy.

"I get have ings?" Rick knelt down.

"I think so," he said kissing her soft dark hair. Alex and Jonathan came in. She saw her brother, and held out her baby.

"For you Alex." He didn't stop himself from crying taking her favorite doll into his arms. Christina closed her eyes and took her last breath safe in the arms of her mother, and in the arms of god.

The first week that passed was the most difficult. Megan, Alex's best friend came back from her trip to the beach with her father, and he basically moved in with her, not wanting to live in the big house without his sister. She made him laugh, and forget, and today they were playing in her room like they always did trying to find a way to fly like Peter Pan

"If we jump out of the loft I bet we could fly," Megan said to him. He grinned, loving the way she though, just like him. They raced out of her room, and heard voices, among them was his fathers voice.

"Hide me fast," Megan took he upstairs into the attic and hid him in an old steamer trunk shutting it, then went back to her room and got out her soldiers, well the one's Alex had brought with him. In a moment someone knocked on the door, then Nanny came in with Mr. O'Connell.

"Megan, where is Alex?" Nanny asked.

"He ran away," she said not looking up at either adult. Rick came and knelt down beside her.

"I know he's been very sad, and I'm glad you were here to take care of him for us, but he needs to come home." Megan looked up at him.

"But he doesn't want to go," she said softly. Rick couldn't blame him. The house was empty without Christina, but life had to go on.

"I know he doesn't, but you need to tell me where he went." She sighed and led him up to the Attic. Alex was sitting on the steamer trunk, and she left them alone. Rick came over and sat next to him.

"Can't I just stay here?" Rick hugged him.

"No, because your family loves you, and we need you home with us," Rick said. Alex looked into his fathers eyes.

"But its going to hurt to go back there." Rick kissed him and lifted him into his arms carrying him downstairs where Nanny had his bags waiting. After thanking them, they got into the car and drove to the house. When Alex walked in he half expected to see Christina run in and grab hold of their fathers leg, like she had always done, but it didn't happen. She was gone now, and there was no way to bring her back. It was his mum who greeted him, and he went willingly

into her arms.

"We made your favorite tonight, pork chops and sauerkraut," Evelyn said trying to make him feel better, about being home. He sighed.

"I'm tired." He left them standing and went up to his own room. His bed was made up with his bear waiting for him, and Sasha. Alex sighed and went over to his bed and picked the little doll up, not understanding why Christina had given it to him. He sat on the floor and held her out touching the dolls porcelain face, remembering when Christina had gotten her. It had been a day of shopping, and

she had begged for it endlessly, until their dad finally got it, much to mum's dismay. Mum never liked to give into Christina's begging, but dad had always had a soft spot for her, so Sasha became a member of the family that day.

"I bet you miss her huh?" he asked the doll. He didn't feel stupid talking to it, in some respects it was like having her here with him. The doll of coarse couldn't talk back to him, and he wished that it could. He held it close inhaling, and smelled his sister's sweet baby smell still on her. He hugged her close and rocked her.

Later that night as Rick and Evelyn lay in bed, she rolled over and lifted up.

"I've been thinking that we may need to get away from here for a while. I'll have Marie take down the crib and put Christina's toys in the attic while we are gone. We can take Alex and Megan to the beach for a while, I think it would do us all a world of good." Rick kissed her gently on the lips.

"I think you have a point." Before he could say more their door cracked open.

"Mum, Dad, may I sleep with you tonight?" Alex asked coming to his dads side of the bed. Rick lifted Alex in, and settled him in between he and Evelyn.

"We were just talking about taking you to the beach," Evelyn told him.

"Really? Can Megan come, and Uncle John too?" They both chuckled, and Evelyn hugged Alex close to her protective now that he was her only baby. Sleep stole over them, and for once a peaceful sleep. Christina had only been a part of them for two short years, but in that time she had filled their lives with such joy. None of them would ever forget her sweet smile, nor they way she looked so much like her mother. As the years would pass, the pain of her loss would subside,

and the Memories would be ones of sweet innocents in their hearts.

THE END

Note: I know this ends sadly, but its going to remain on its own. This is seperate from the rest of my fics, and none of them will tie in to this story. It took alot out of me to write this, and now that I've done my one extremly sad fic, even made me cry, It's not going to have a repeat performance. Christina is my creation, and as of now no one will have permission to bring her back. Might change my mind later, but right now she is staying where she is, which is a distant memory. I'm really not a bad person, and if this is the first time

you've read something by me then click on Eviefan and go read my other stories, they are happy and jolly good fun.
