Title: Crush
Rating: G
Disclaimer: I own nothing in this
storie, except Valancy. :)
Summary: Alex gets his first crush....
Author's note: Okay, some of these
little things were from Jessi.
(oconnells_mummy_girl) such as,
"Ewww, get a room." and a couple of stuff like that, besides them, I
wrote the rest.
He looked drearily around the 3rd grade
classroom. He started to daydream about how he would love to be in Egypt right
now, having an adventure, going on a dig....... He daydreamed that *he* would
be the one who would kill all the mummies, *he* would be the one to save the
day.......
"Alexander O'Connell!" The
teacher scolded him, bringing him back to earth,
"Would you mind telling us what
was more important than what we are talking about?" She pointed to the
blackboard.
"I......uh......er,well,
I....."
The class laughed.
"Very well, Mr.O'connell, but if I
find you not paying attention again..." She continued with her lesson.
Alex muttered something under his
breath and he looked out of the corner of his eye at somebody he felt staring
at him. It was a girl, a couple of seats down the row. She had on a pretty,
delicate, lavender dress and a thin pink ribbon that pulled her dark wavy hair
back out of her eyes, and let it rest on her shoulders. She had green-hazel
eyes, rosy cheeks, and cute little dimples when
she smiled. Which was what she was
doing now and when she saw Alex looking back at her she blushed and turned
away.
Alex suddenly got a feeling he had
never gotten before. But it was a good feeling, a sensational feeling, and it
had hit him when he layed eyes on the girl. He thought her very pretty and
found himself wanting to talk to her. He thought this strange because he had
never wanted to look at a girl before, more likely talk to one. And the other
boys thought girls were gross and had cooties and had always told him to stay
away....... But he didn't care about that right
now.
****Recess****
Alex was out playing tag with a group
of boys from his class. David was right on his heels and he laughed as they
both collided to the ground in a heap. They helped each other up and started
their way back to the others when David left his side. Alex turned around and
saw that he had walked up to the girl he had seen in class, and her friend, and
had stolen that pink ribbon from her hair.
"Give it back!!" She cried.
David just held it up higher.
Alex walked up to them. "Come on,
David, give it back."
"Why would I wanna do that?!"
He smirked at her as she jumped up and down.
"Because if you don't, you'll be
sorry...."
The little girl sniffled.
"OooooOooo, I'm *so* scared,
O'connell!" He laughed and then laughed harder as tears got to the little
girls' eyes. "Cry baby."
That was it.
Alex threw back his fist, and landed it
smack upside David's face before he could react, making him fall to the ground.
He let the ribbon drop as he clutched his eye, which was bleeding and starting
to swell. Alex bent over and gave the girl her ribbon and she slightly smiled
at him, but was horrified at what he had done.
"Thank you..." She told him
softly as she took it from him and started to tie it back in her hair.
"No problem..." he gave her
that lop-sided grin of his that he had inherited from his father and added,
"What's your name?"
"Valancy." She giggled at his
cute smile.
They were then interupted as the
teacher came running out to them. "Alex O'Connell! I should have known!
-"
Valancy stopped the teacher from
smacking Alex from upside his head, "No! David was mean to me, that's why
he did it..." She started to blush.
The woman was speachless.
"Oh....well...ok....Come along, David.....Children, come on inside, recess
is over."
They all walked inside the building
together.
****After School****
Alex came running into the O'connell
Manor. "Dad!!"
No answer.
"DAD!!!!"
came down the stairs and casually
walked past Alex and into the living room, "Hey, slugger..."
He dropped his bookbag.
"What?....." He followed his father into the room.
Rick grinned.
"How did you know?"
"News travels fast.....So, what
started it anyways?" Rick asked eagerly, wanting to know the details.
He tried to change the subject.
"Dad?.....what do girls like?"
Rick paused, "It
depends....." A grin started to spread across his face, "Ohh! So
*this* is how it started!"
Alex waited for an answer.
"Well..... try flowers. Most girls
love them, and -"
"Okay." Alex jumped to his
feet and headed out back where there was a whole field of wild flowers.
Still grinning, Rick headed upstairs
where he found Evie looking around her books. She looked up when she saw him,
she asked, "And *what* are you smiling at?"
"I think Alex has his first crush."
"How cute! ..... How do you
know?"
"He *practically* told
me...."
"Why?!" Evie asked him,
offended that she had been left out.
"For advice, of course." He
smiled, "Considering I'm the most charming, most handsome, most polite,
most ........."
She giggled.
********
Alex picked his fifth tulip. He now had
3 pink ones and 2 yellow ones. This satisfied him, so he walked back into the
house where he found his Dad and Mum. Rick handed him a vase, filled with fresh
water. "Thought you could use this."
Gratefully, he took it and put the
flowers inside.
********
Rick dropped Alex off at school.
"Good Luck." He winked as he watched his son roll his eyes and walk
off with the flowers in his hand.
Alex scanned the courtyard and spotted
Valancy kneeling down in front of a tree gathering up her things before they
had to be in class. While taking a deep breath he started over to her. His
knees felt like noodles, and his hands were trembling. What if she didn't like
them?! What if she got mad?! What if-
"These are for you."
Valancy looked up at him and blushed as
she took the flowers from him and sniffed them. "Thank you." She told
him quietly and smiled.
Alex's muscles relaxed as he saw that
she liked them.
She giggled at the expression on his
face. "Come on, silly." She took his hand and lead them both into the
building just in time for class.
****
Alex looked up at the clock. Yay! 5
minutes until school was out and he couldn't wait. He pulled out a piece of
paper and wrote,
Can you come to my house for dinner??
He folded it up and then threw it down
the row under Valancy's desk. He watched as she picked it up, making sure their
teacher didn't see, and opened it. She wrote something down and threw it back.
He smiled. 'Score.'
****
Alex and Valancy walked into his living
room to find his parents. Evie put down her book and Rick looked up from the
paper.
"And who might this be?" She
asked with a smile.
"Valancy." Alex explained
Rick, grinning at Alex, got up and took
her hand. "It's a pleasure meeting you, Valancy." He said, being the
charming man that he is.
She giggled, now knowing where Alex got
his good looks.
"Big Al wouldn't have a
girlfriend, now would he?" Jonathan asked as he entered the room.
"Jonathan, lay off." Evie
told him as Rick just grinned along with him. "Well, you two kids can run
off and play while dinner is getting ready."
They quickly ran out and Alex lead her
out into the backyard. She gasped at the field full of beautiful flowers.
"It's breath-taking!"
He laughed and started running to it.
"Come on!"
They ran until they couldn't anymore.
They collapsed in the middle of the flowers and took deep breaths.
Sitting up, Alex started picking
daisies. Valancy smiled at him, "Whatchya doin?"
He didn't answer her until he had made
a little crown of flowers and placed it upon her head. "You're
pretty." He told her. 'oh my god! I cant believe I said that out loud!'
She felt her cheeks turn a light pink
and she leaned over and quickly kissed him on the cheek. "Well, I think
your *very* handsome, Alex."
"Time for dinner!!" Evie
called out to them.
Getting up, Valancy turned to run back
in that direction. Alex sat there a minute with his hand on his cheek where she
had kissed him, and then finally got up and caught up with her.
******
Alex walked Valancy to her door and
pecked her on the lips. "Bye." And he walked back to the car where
his Dad was waiting for him.
When he got into the car, Rick made a
disgusted face and whined, "Ewwww, get a room."
Alex covered his smile with his hand
and when he got a serious expression he took it back down. "Just
drive." He commanded as his Dad started off.
Rick turned the corner, glanced at Alex
and grinned, "Someone's in looooove."
He didn't wanna answer but that grin
his dad kept giving him was getting on his nerves. "Shutup. Your soo
meeaannnn."
"Romeo, I'm just giving you a hard
time, cause that's what you always tell me and Mum."
Alex glared at him for calling him
'Romeo' as they pulled up into the driveway. Rick laughed and they both got out
of the car and walked into the house.
Jon came walking up to them.
"O'connell, there you are, I've been looking for you."
"Sorry, we just had to go drop off
Juliet at home." Rick answered, loving the moment.
Alex shook his head and headed
upstairs. It was already late and he was exhausted. Climbing into bed, he
pulled the covers close and smiled to himself as he drifted off into a peaceful
sleep.
Author's note: I thought this was cute.
I will continue and add more if you would like, but I hope you liked it! :)
London, England. February, 14, 1935.
Alex came down the stairs, ready for
breakfast. Rick placed a plate of pancakes on the table..... shaped like
hearts. Giving him a weird look, Alex took one of them and set it on his plate.
The aroma was wonderful. He automatically knew his Mum didn't cook..... when
she did, Rick, Jon, and Alex always said they had to go and then went to the
little shop down at the corner to have breakfast. They
always felt guilty, but it was better
than dying.
Evelyn entered the room and smiled. She
*knew* her family loved her cooking, but she was glad her husband had took care
of it for today.
Rick grinned at her and pulled a small
wrapped box out of his pocket and handed it to her. She unwrapped the delicate
paper, and opened the box ever so slowly. She gasped at the ring before her
eyes. It was gold and shiny red rubies were placed together to form a beautiful
heart. Inside was the inscription, "E+R=<3"
She leaned up to kiss her husband, then
handed him an envelope.
"OooOoo a card!" He kidded
her as he opened it. He pulled out two tickets.
"Vacation." Evie stated and
he grinned that famous grin of his.
Rick then turned towards his son,
"What'd you get for your girlfriend, Romeo?"
Alex looked up, "For what?"
"Valentines day, of
course...." He saw his sons' eyes widen. "Arg, don't tell me you
forgot....."
Alex nodded his head in horror.
Evie laughed at her son's expression
and sat down at the table to get her food.
"It's a holiday, so you don't have
to go to school today. You have all day to get her something."
He sighed in relief and got up.
"I'm going to go now!"
****In Alex's room****
He rummaged through his closet. While
throwing things behind his shoulder, "No, not it. Not it either. That's
not it. Nope.... No.....no.... Ugh! Where is it?!"
He exclaimed to himself as he had
cleared out his closet and everything was now scattered in all directions on
the floor.
Alex walked over to his bed and peeked
under it. It had to be under there. He cleared some things out of the way when
he spotted it and reached under there and grabbed it. He set his piggy bank on
the bed and tilted it upside down for the money to come out. Nothing. He shook
it a little harder and this time he noticed there was no sound. He peeked
inside the slit and saw that it was empty.
He ran out of the room and down the
stairs hysterically and bumped into his Dad.
"Hey, hey, what's wrong?"
"I got robbed!"
"What?"
"My piggy bank is empty!!"
"Hold on, buddy, you spent your
money last week on all that candy, remember?"
He thought for a minute.
"Ohhh.....yeah...."
"Instead of buying her something,
why not give her something? Go look in the basement."
"The *basement*?!"
Rick just nodded and walked off.
Frustrated, Alex made his way
downstairs into the basement where his dad had told him to go. He had no idea
why he was down here but he might as well look around. Fumbling for the
light-switch, he turned it on and light up the huge room. There were so many
boxes and trunks he didn't know where to start.
After walking around the room, he
decided to open a large chest that was in the corner. He first pulled out a
wedding dress. He threw it to the side and kept looking. He pulled out a cute
little brown teddy bear. His mum had showed him this bear once, and he knew it
was hers when she was a kid. It was cute, but he couldn't give it away. He kept
digging. Finally, he held a locket in the palm of
his hand. It had a very delicate chain
so he had to be careful. He opened it. There were two spots where you could put
pictures. The necklace was beautiful. It would be perfect to give Valancy. She
would absolutly love it.
Alex came back up and went into the
living room to ask if he could wrap it. Evie was sitting on the sofa, and Rick
in his chair as always. Seeing the familiar locker in her son's hand she told
him, "That used to be mine."
Alex frowned..
She smiled instead, "And it's a
perfect gift. Go wrap it."
A smile formed on his lips and he
hurried out of the room.
******
They had decided to meet by the huge
oak tree in the park. Alex had gotten there first, and he was seated peacefully
under the shade and protection of it. Valancy came walking up to him, smiling,
with both hands behind her back., and sat down next to him.
"Here you go, Alex
O'connell." She grinned and handed him one of the hugest lollipop's that
he had ever seen, the kinds that look as if it would take years to finish. And
across it read, "Hug Me." So that's exactly what he did.
She smiled as he handed her a box. When
she had opened it she gasped at the necklace and took it out. She lifted her
hair up, "Can you put it on me?"
He helped her put it on and then she
let her hair fall and she looked down, admiring it. She leaned up and kissed
his cheek. "Thank You."
"Happy Valentine's Day."
****
Valancy came to school the next day and
smiled at Alex as she walked to her desk. And inside her locket, was a picture
of her.... And a picture of him.
May 24, 1938, Egypt
Thirteen year old Alex O'Connell and
Valancy Doss sprinted down the tunnels in the great pyramid. They were
frantically searching for Rick and Evie, before things got worse.
A billion thoughts ran through
Valancy's mind. When Alex and his parents had asked her to come along on the
dig with them, she had agreed to go... she figured it would give her something
to do and anyways Alex was going. He had told her a billion times what had
happened to him when he was 8 ..... when some 'mummy' came alive and kidnapped
him. She always thought he had made up the stories just to entertain her. They
always did and found them very amusing. But now..... today.... This very
moment, she didn't find them amusing at all. She now *knew* they were true.
'God, help me, help me, help me!!' she kept screaming in her mind.
Alex grabbed Val's hand and tried to
run faster with her. They had to get out of there and to his Mum and Dad before
it got to them first. He thought five years ago that this wouldn't end up
happening again but he guessed he was wrong. This wasn't any mummy..... this
wasn't scarabs... and it wasn't scorpions. Only minutes ago, were they both
exploring the temple, and they had come across some old ancient mummified pets.
Alex had taught Val over the years how to read Egyptian pretty well, but not
*as* good as he could. Before he could warn her, she had read an old
inscription on the wall, causing these 'pets' to come back. They were
disgusting. They were cat-like creatures, HUGE sharp fangs, claws as sharp as
knives, slanted narrow eyes that glowed bright red, and a lizard like tongue
and the creatures hissed at you. A noise that echoed through out the pyramid,
and sent a shiver up your spine.
They ran farther until they got to a
dead end. Horrified, they saw a hole in the dirt and knew it was the only way out.
Alex threw Val through first, and then jumped in after her, both of them
landing at Evie and Rick's feet.
"Have a nice fall, buddy?"
Rick grinned.
Alex didn't even have time to roll his
eyes. "Come on!!!"
And him and Valancy got up and started
to run again, hoping they would follow.
Giving them an odd look, they heard
something coming from above. Without hesitating, they ran and followed the
kids. Evie looked behind her shoulder and saw a cat...or some kind of cat..come
out of the hole...then another.. and another.........
She grabbed Rick and pulled him farther
along.
Valancy's heart beat rapidly, as she
heard that dreadful hissing sound coming closer and closer with every step they
took. She clung on to Alex's hand tighter and moved her legs as fast as they
could go.
One of the cats caught up to them, and
bit Val and Alex in their leg. The weird thing was, it didn't hurt the kids at
all. They felt themselves getting smaller and smaller.....
"AHH! I'm melting!!" Valancy
yelled.
"No....." Alex looked down at
himself when they stopped. "We're cats!!!"
It was true. The bite had turned them
into ancient egyptian cats also.
"Oh my god, Alex!! What are we
going to do?!?!"
Alex trotted over to his Mum and Dad,
who had run ahead, not seeing what had happened to the kids.
"Mum!!! Dad!!!" Alex yelled.
Rick and Evie didn't know what had
happened to the kids until they heard Alex call them. But nothing was behind
them anymore, except two of them cats. Rick's face went white as he heard one
of the cats talk again. "Alex?!?!"
The cat nodded and jumped into his
arms. "It's me." Then the other one climbed into Evie's.
"Let me guess...." Evie
stammered, "Valancy?!"
A tear went down the kitty's face.
"It'll be all right... We'll get you back..." She comforted.
Rick nodded. "Which one of you
read an inscription?" When he saw Valancy raise her paw, he said,
"Let's go take a look at it."
They walked carefully back to the spot
and Evie took a look at it. "Well...looks to me that we have to kill all the
'mummy cats' , besides these two of course, for the spell to be broken.....
before sunset."
Rick cursed under his breath, knowing
that they didn't have long. "Stay here!" He told the two while him
and Evie went off to kick Kitty-cat butt.
Turning the corner, they crouched down
low as they heard something. They got their guns ready for action. Rick gave
her a nod and they both jumped out and started shooting. The cats screamed as
they reached their death and disappeared. One jumped on Rick and clawed his
shoulder, hard, making blood sink through his shirt. He slapped it off and shot
it between the eyes. Evie shot at a couple, killing them, not paying attention
to one that was jumping at her with its teeth ready. Rick leaped forward and
blocked its path, saving her. Luckily, he didn't get bitten just clawed once
again. There was only one more left,
and seeing that it was going to die, it ran out of the temple. Shouting, Rick
and Evie chased after it quickly outside. They both looked up. The sun was already
setting, the sky was a pink, yellow, purple, reddish color. They looked around
frantically for the cat and spooted it running across the sand. Rick screamed
and shot at it quickly, killing it.... Just as the sun set. But he still wasn't
sure if he had made it in time or not. Evie, reading his mind, followed him
quickly inside the temple and searched around for the kids. "ALEX!!!!
VALANCY!!!!!" Hearing nothing, they looked around faster. Spotting the
kids getting up off the ground, they ran forward eagerly and took them into
their arms.
"Oh, Thank God!" They
exclaimed as they hugged them, and placed kisses on their faces.
"Come on," Rick said as he
took the kids by the hands. "Let's get outta here." And that's
exactly what they did.
THE END

a hurry to finish! I havent written in 4ever! I had to finish! :oP
