Some of our   Animal Friends
  The Bilby
Well, the Bilby is one of the
smaller animals that roams our lands in the dark of night. Here the mother bilby is seen watching over her young. Not much is really known about the bilby,as it is becoming very close to being extinct due to the introduction of rabbits and foxes which were brought to our country by the early settelers. The one thing we do know, is that the numbers are very low, but  thanks to the zoo's and the animal conservation society, the numbers are slowly picking up and hopefully we can save them from becoming extinct.
The Kangaroo is most probably one of
our more known animals. The Albino
Kangaroo seen here, is very rare but can be seen in one of our national animal parks here in Perth. We don't really have them hopping up and down our streets like some people seem to think, but they can be found living close to the suburbs.
The kangaroo is like most of the animals in this country, they mainly come out of hiding at dusk looking for food and water and sleep in the heat of the day.
  The Kangaroo
The racehorse goanna got its       name for a couple of reasons,
the first being because it can        run very fast, the saying is that    it can run as fast as a racehorse,  hense the name.
The other is because if you         were to stand still, the goanna      would run up you as fast as a      racehorse. Its true, there have      been cases of these goanna's       running up people. The fact is,     that if you stand still they think    you are a tree, and thats why        they run up you, the only thing    wrong with that is, they have       very long sharp claws and can
rip a mans skin to pieces.
The Koala
The Koala is one of our
more popular animals,     because it looks cute.
Most people seem to       think its part of the         bear family, but thats      not true. Its actually
part of the Marsupial
class of animals. This
means that they carry
their young in a pouch.
The babies are born the  size of your little finger
nail and they grow in
the mothers pouch.
