Skerries Sea Scouts in Kandersteg
This summer Rockabill troop of Skerries sea scouts, embarked on the trip of a lifetime, they went to the Swiss International Scout Centre in Kandersteg for ten days of fun and adventure. Thirty five scouts and six leaders flew out to this scouting haven in the mountains of Switzerland. Kandersteg International Scout Centre is the world centre of the World Organisation of the Scout Movement. For nearly 75 years it has been the international home of Scouting, with scouts from all over the world coming to share in it's very special atmosphere. The centre is situated at 1,200 metres above sea level, some 65 kilometres south of Bern. The centre occupies 17 hectares of wooded ground at the southern end of the village. There were a host of activities and hikes organised for the scouts to partake in while they were in Kandersteg. They climbed a glacier, went curling, swimming, absailing among other exciting things. The scouts had a trip they will long remember. |
