Just a few lines... When I first came to Canada many, many years ago, furs were very popular.. Canada did develop also on the fur trade, and there was no shortage
of furs..they were in the back of the various politician's wife's getting on.ff planes , they were of course, in coffee shops, lining up at the bank...movies did chip in and made it even more glamorous...Joan Crawford , Bette Davis, to name but a few, were the very image of glamour and success , wearing furs, and they had many of them in the market..the leopard skin,so attractive, so"wild",, the tiger, of course...even our Marilyn, if not wrong, was longing for one... the white mink coat, this was a must..
Now, furs looks at you gloomily from some expensive shops, even the salespeople look uncomfortable. There is a tint of sin, of something very wrong about furs, everybody knows it now...And then again, if it was just that simple...if furs were just discarded as the absurd hairdos of the 1700, or the hoops of the 1800......there are always reasons of concern, here and there some decadent designer, from some even more decadent palace or mansion, do come up with a new twist to the old trade, and put up something on the market, that even more decadent people will buy.......People went to the moon , and back!, but we still have corridas, animal acts, repressive zoos, (, of course, I am against all zoos ), cruel animal research, etc etc... fox hunting is an horrible thing, if you just consider it a bit..the elusive fox, her limited time over and over again calculated on the high scale of one glorious riding day , when the hot meat pie and the glass of port will make the hunt more complete..To each his own.
This is in effect, how humans did learn how to react to their loss of freedom and their complex uniformly advancing civilization..this is their answer, retorting to killing or profiting of their wildlife, making a mockery of their own advantages and a blasphemy of their own evolution...�
