SQUADRON INFORMATION FOR NEW CADETS

Weekly Training

Our squadron meets September to June on Monday evenings from 6:45 to 9:20 PM at the Indian Head Memorial Hall in Indian Head.   Training classes include: Drill, General Cadet Knowledge, Citizenship, Leadership, Theory of Flight, Air Frames,  Aero Engines, Meteorology, Navigation, Aeronautical Facilities, Survival, Range and Physical  Fitness.

Pre-requisites for Enrollment

To be an air cadet, one must be between the ages of 12 and 19 and be a Canadian citizen.

Weekend Training

The Squadron participates in a wide variety of activities on weekends which are
usually support training to complete your level. Some activities include Gliding,
Flying, Range, Survival and Leadership exercises, Citizenship Tours, Parades
and fund raising activities.

Standards for Hair and Dress

Hair cuts are required for male cadets. It must be neatly cut above the collar and
ears, of uniform length, of natural colour and no radical styling. earrings shall not be
worn by male cadets.

Female cadets must put their hair up so that is does not hang over the collar. The
colour must also be of a natural colour. (Not necessarily your original colour.) Female
cadets may wear a single stud in each ear. No makeup is to be worn while in uniform.

Uniforms will be issued after you have completed 3 or 4 weeks of cadets. Uniforms
shall be well cared for, cleaned, ironed and returned upon quitting the squadron.
Boots must be highly polished. The uniform is loaned fee of charge and it (or any
parts of it) shall not be worn for any reason except authorized cadet activities.

Calendar

Cadets operates on the school calendar year from September to June. Parade nights
are every Monday except statutory holidays.

The last parade of the year is our Annual Ceremonial Review Parade.
Parents and guests are invited and welcome to attend the Annual Ceremonial Review.
