Hi ....I am Balachander, Associate Professor in a graduate college (Hon) program, in Loyola Academy, a Jesuit college in semi-arid Hyderabad metropolitan, in South India. This has been my home, with 'chaos' as a way of life and 'human nature' as a cultural bondage, in the potpourri of unity vs diversity in contexts and places, on the urban edge. With brief parlays into geology and as processes go by, ramified into Botany-meandering through Genetics, algae, fungi, palynology. I often wondered where I am going....in the complex maze of uncertainties in academics and research. Maybe it was 'deterministic chaos' and the urge to ride across cross currents of transience, the dynamic perspectives, in the making(and breaking!), which has besieged me, through the Center for Advanced Study in Botany, Univ.Madras, and the vivid frames of outdoor landscapes, beaches, tropical rain forests, slash and burn agriculture, montane habitats and the like.
The best place to find me is on the communicative, interactive, class/outdoor youth portals, on campus and into ecointerpretation (with coffee and music). I love creative writing, ecojournalism, people-environmental relationships and the new wave paradigm ecology..'in action'. With 'eclectic',backgrounds, beyond the participatory fetish, I believe, my true 'north' is in ecointerpretation, teaching/research, in varied contexts of the paradigm. My intrinsic, exploratory, philosophy is opposites as well!, for at Salim Ali School of Ecology & Environmental Sciences, Pondicherry Univ., I stumbled into ...the search for ecosustainable communities, landscapes..and backcasting..to discover..unlearn...'the roads from being to becoming' in applied Human Ecology, thro' naturalistic inquiry, applied sociological methods...like a kaleidoscope run wild. Currently I am on Loyola Biodiversity Park, a project on ecointerpretation. My 'creative niche' is in waves of collusions, with a gamut of unpublished papers...for I need a break out of the limits of an overdose of academic teaching (locked and lost in the Indian contexts?)
"If our so called facts are changing shadows, they are shadows cast by the light of constant truth." (Eddington 1930)
My tyrst with nonequilibrium ecology and the breadth of the Ph.D., the 'interdisciplinary' teaching experience, and Ignatius Pedological Paradigm, since 1984, have been into webs of caussations...We need to address to the shifting middleground, in the current 'empasse' of community based sustainable development, in the making, how do we explore it/capture it? share the empirical experiences, of ground realities? focus is of turbulence, ecochange, uncertainty, transience..and emergent themes on a continuum...I resonate with the deep ecology of human communities...the social actors..their cultures, values, ethics, and much more..now on a continuum...on a journey..a process continuum..towards the "paradigm of paradigms' emerging into unknown trajectories of ecochanges!
As we move through cascading frames of the leading edge research in human ecology, I am into the challenges, limits, and the formative goals in teaching as_to generate a community of adult learners, experiencing the new paradigm research, by participatory facilitation and action research in multitude learning social contexts and processes, and ecointerpretation. That is order out of chaos for me..on the sustainable matrix..into learning environments,on campus!
