In this section I will post my theory of the "dollar" store........
I had a real let-down the other day. I just got a dollar for doing something for my uncle, and we were out. Since I only had a dollar, I thought, "Hey! Why don't I spend this bad boy in the only place I can get something for this cheap, The Dollar Store!" So, I get to the "dollar" store, find what I want to buy, (the price-tag said $1), and I went to the register to pay. When I got there, the little bugger rang up as $1.07! Can you believe the nerve!? I had $1, no more, no less. I get to the store and buy something, and I don't have enough money. So I said the the clerk, "Wait a minute, this is the Dollar Store right?", and he said, "Yup.", and I said, "Then if this is the Dollar Store, the why is what I bought more than a dollar?", and he says, "Because of tax........"
Because of tax...... I was really depressed. I couldn't believe that my one and only object of currency, and I couldn't buy anything in a store that bore the name of that currency, "dollar."
So I thought, and I thought, and I thought a bit more, and I thought, "Why did they name it the "Dollar" Store if NOTHING in the store is a dollar?" So I got to thinking, "Why couldn't they name it the Dollar Store, and have everything be 93 cents? Then charge your must-have 7cents tax and have it equal $1? I figured that if they did that, then everyone would be happy. But until they process my proposition, I will just have to be sad.... |
