Skating in the Tetons - Literally
Lori and I had a crazy notion to skate on Jackson Lake in Grand Teton National Park on April 6th, 2002.  Our friend had just been skating as part of a photo shoot out there two days earlier, so we heard there was a nice patch of ice.  It had been two weeks since we had skated and desperation had already set it.  So, we decided to give it a try; my husband came along for the fun.  It turned out to be more like slush skating and periodically you would crash through the fist layer of slush to the more solid layer underneath (due to the thawing and refreezing).  This is not recommended for leather boots as between the slush and ice layers was LOTS of water.  We had seen snowmobiles on the lake, so we figured we were safe.  We took some digital photos to remember our hour of insanity.  The pictures you see are essentially of poses, because that was all the terrible ice would allow for.  Lori brought hot chocolate and granola bars to make it "Martha Stewart" perfect.  It was a fantastic day -  skating in the Tetons.

We went inline skating on the park road after ice skating.  The road is closed to cars in April.
Do not judge my spirals based on this.  It was good form for slush skating.
