| They were all packing up at the same time as they were talking. All excited to be getting away from Michigan for the summer. They had taken Dales big expedition. They put most of the belongings in the trunk and some more on the top of the car. All 6 of them fitted perfectly. �I have an idea everybody!� Ashleigh yelled. �What?� they all said. �How about we sing the lamb chop song!� She said joking around. �NO!� they all yelled except Laura and Ashleigh. �This is the song that never ends, and it goes on and on my friends, some people started singing this song not knowing what it means, and they�ll continue singing it forever just because�� Ashleigh and Laura started singing it and they continued to sing it until 10 minutes passed. They got tired and stopped. �Thank god!� Danny said. Laura turned around and looked at him. �Ashawee! I think we need to sing again.� And she and Ashleigh laughed. �Ok people, from now on so we don�t get the two Ashley�s mixed up, we call that Ashleigh in the back, ashawee, ok?� she said indicating to me. �And that Ashley is Ashley.� She said and she turned around again. Ashawee was always the one person in the group who acted like a kid sometimes. Which is why she still brought some excitement to their boring lives. Their first stop was at a gas station near the boarder of Michigan and Illinois. Ashawee had to pay for the first round of gas, they had all voted and it was her who was supposed to pay first. She got out of the car and headed into the gas station. When she got in there the guy behind the counter was not what she expected. He had greasy stringy hair and he had teeth missing. He looked like a criminal; she gave him her master card. �Can you fill her up?� Ashleigh asked her voice small and little. He nodded and charged it on the machine and then handed it back to her. �Anything else ma�am?� he asked. And she shook her head no. She went back outside and got into the car as fast as she could. And told them to drive away after the car was full. They asked her what happened and she said nothing happened. Which did. Nothing happened. The next day we were in Illinois getting Dales car fixed at a Gas station. �I don�t know what happened, I mean one minute we were driving and the next it just stopped.� Dale said in his deep voice to the mechanic. While dale and the mechanic talked Ashleigh took pictures of the Scenery. Jose came up behind her. And she jumped. �Hey.� He said. �Hey.� Ashleigh said focusing her camera on the view. Jose and Ashleigh have been good friends for a long time. And they both liked each other it was only obvious. But neither one of them said a thing about dating. They acted like a couple at times, but they never quite went that extra mile to actually be a couple. �So I�m glad that you thought of this trip, it seems cool so Far.� Jose said kicking at the dirt. �Yeah its one of my best ideas yet.� Ashleigh said taking the picture. �Yeah it is.� Then we heard Dale yell from his car. �Come on guys its ready!� he yelled and got into the car. �After you.� Jose said gesturing toward the car. �Why thank you.� I said and I ran to the car and jumped in. We have been on the road for days and each person takes turns driving. Today it was Ashleigh�s turn and she couldn�t wait to get into the car. �Everybody hurry up or I�ll leave with out you guys!� she yelled outside the hotel rooms. �I doubt it.� Dale said. �I will don�t doubt me!� she said laughing. �You can�t leave with out us.� Dale said. �Oh yes I can.� Ashleigh said back. �NO you cant, because I have the car keys.� He said and Ashleigh looked at his hand that held the car keys and looked down at the floor. �That�s just one thing standing between me and the road.� She said and everybody laughed. We were in Arizona now and all we could see was sand, sand and more sand. It was kind of pissing Ashleigh off. Jose was in the front seat next to her. And she glanced in the rear view mirror. Laura was sleeping on Dales shoulder and Ashley and Danny were making out. She just kept driving. Dale had a CB radio in his car and she giggled when she remembered Joy ride. It�s this movie where these two brothers mess around with the radio and they play a joke on a truck driver and then they end up almost getting killed. It was suspenseful. Ashleigh grabbed the radio. �Hello is anyone out there?� she asked waiting for a response. �Hello, this is uh�.� And she looked to Jose for a name and he mouths to her sweet and spice. She laughed and picked up the radio again. �This is sweet and spice�is anyone out there?� she said again, waiting for a response. Then she handed it to Jose and he was like no. �Come on just do it.� She whispered. �Sweet and spice? This is humpty dumpty.� He said and she busted out laughing. �Well humpty dumpty, did you know that no where in the Mother Goose rhyme does it say that humpty dumpty is an egg?� she said and then giggled. He shook his head and took the radio. �No I didn�t know that.� Jose said laughing. �Well its true.� She said and then she set the radio down and kept driving, Laura and Dale were in the back sleeping and Danny and Ashley were laughing at what Ashawee and Jose were doing. |
