The Dung Beetles A Dan Jewell Production
Created by singer-songwriter Dan Jewell, the Dung Beetles delivers a heavy rock sound with a twist of power vocals, and screaming guitars with taste. Citing such musical influences as The Doors, Chuck Berry, Nirvana, The Animals, and Joe Cocker, Jewell has drummed up a unique sound that has been fittingly described as "The Doors meet Nirvana at Spinal Taps' house."
With 5 years of gigging around the Pittsburgh area and 80 years of professional experience combined, the band is composed of four members. Dan Jewell provides songwriting and arrangements, lead and backup vocals, percussion, keys, and modulation. Chuck (the legend) Moses lends guitars, back-up vocals and electric sitar to the mix. Blaze Fusco bottoms out on bass. Finishing off the foursome is Bruce Cunningham on drums.
Instruments used on this recording were Gibson SG and Les Paul electric guitars, Fender Precision bass, Ludwig drums, electric sitar, morracas, afroshuns, tamborine, modulator, Marshall mini-amps, and cowbell. All recording was done at Duct Tape Studios in Butler, PA. The Dung Beetles' self-titled CD has received favorable reviews in such noted publications as Pittsburghs Rock 'n' Roll Reporter, Steel City Rock Magazine, The Butler Eagle, and various local newspapers in the Western Pennsylvania area.
