Shoeless is a ska/punk/hardcore band from
Tucson, AZ.
It all started when two bands formed, The Gutter Punks and Skattish. At the time they
didn't know the other band existed.
Then came Afro Mack, same people as Gutter Punks, same stuff. Soon Afro Mack and Skattish
were rivals. This went on for a while, until finally Afro Mack broke up and Skattish got a
new drummer (one who could play).
Then one day in October, Carter (the guitarist from Skattish) and Mike (the former drummer
of Afro Mack) decided to make a band. They decided to make it a Rage Against the Machine
cover band. Also in the band were Kim, Sasha, Sarah, Nicole and Lee (guitarist). Well,
when that didn't work out they changed the name to 12 Inch Johnson and decided to start
over.
But before they could get in a practice as 12 Inch Johnson, Carter quit. But still the
other members practiced the day away without him, creating such songs as "CARTER ESTE
MUERTE" and even making up an excuse
as to why he wasn't in the band. But finally realizing that anger was not the way, and
that they weren't getting anywhere, they went out to find a new guitarist.
They wandered the streets posting flyers and hunting down any guitar players they could
and holding auditions. They even went as far as to try and learn guitar themselves. But
when nothing worked they got angry. They got even...
Well, tried to. After spreading rumors about Carter's sexuality and telling cops that he
was selling illegal drugs and even telling Carter's mother about his secret stash of smut,
they said "Dammit! We miss Carter!" And they simply reasoned with him, and asked
him to join them once again in their pursuit of musical perfection. After 8 whole hours of
a guitarless 12 Inch Johnson, Carter was back, and they were better than ever.
Then one day Carter decided to quit the band (again). This time the band decide to replace
him. They asked Jimmy (guitarist for another band that Mike is in) to come and play guitar
for 12 Inch Johnson, and he agreed. The next day Carter wanted back in. Sooo...to make a
not so long story even shorter, Carter was back (again). 12 Inch Johnson now had two (2)
guitarists, Jimmy on rhythm and lead vocals and Carter on lead and back-up vocals. Next,
they decided to change their name, and what did they come up with? Leave it to Beaver.
Then they decided that was kind of a gay name so they changed it to Shoeless.
The moral of this story?
"One bagel in February is always better than two bagels in November."
