My Robots
When I saw my first Aibo (ERS 110) I was hooked. I was also poor so it took a bit before I could afford one. Then about 3 years ago a company called Ubid had some surplus ERS 210's for sale well I took the plunge and got Ookami. Lots of fun to hack!
Like I said I own a couple of commercial robots. Above is a picture of my Roomba Red. This thing is GREAT. It does a great job vacuuming the front two rooms in my house. When it is done it parks itself on its charger and gets ready for then next job.
Here he is in his play pen. After a few heart stopping falls. There is nothing like watching a 700 dollar robotic dog drop to the floor. So now if I can't keep a close eye on him I let him lose in his pen.
R2-D2
This was one of my very first large scale robot projects. Needless to stay I was a big starwars fan. By bringing the robot to theaters I made money and got to se the Starwars movies 100's of times.
The best way to describe my Robotica experience is as my own personal Waterloo. We had been invited to do the show and started to build a robot for it. Well after we had gotten about half way through the build, they completely change the course design. With no time to start again we just kept on going with our original design.. After getting there and having several spectacular system failures we went down in defeat. What did I learn from building this robot? K.I.S.S. Keep It Simple Stupid!
