What is La Coeur Brulant about?
500 years ago, a French theologican named John Calvin penned the words written above, "My heart I offer thee, Lord, promptly and sincerely". Those very words inspired the seal left that represents him and his great passion to give God's truth; that seal is composed of a hand holding a burning heart (coeur brulant in French and Creole French). When one looks at the burning heart in Calvin's seal one is reminded of the burning he had in his heart to make others aware of the Reformed faith and the Doctrines of Grace. Driven by this burning Calvin pressed onward in the Lord and through Him God ignited the hearts of others so that from Calvin's day to our present day, numerous men and women have come to faith in Christ and had the same burning heart. In February of 1991 at Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Sarepta Louisiana, God touched the heart of an 8 year old Black Creole boy, and that boy became a regenrate believer in Christ. For the next 10 years Scotty Williams grew in his faith despite the many ups and downs of life, and in the year 2001 he came to Northwestern College in St. Paul, Minnesota. It was there that he learned of John Cavlin and Reformed Theology, was greatly touched by the Doctrines of Grace, and became Reformed himself. Though his life was deeply impacted by Reformed Theology, he was hesitant to tell other African Americans of his new found beliefs. This hesistation came because he didn't know any other African Americans who were fond of Reformed theology. All that changed when he learned of the Black Alliance of Reformed Theology (now Cyrene Ministries) and listened to its founders (Anthony Carter and Sherard Burns) speak in chapel; he later learned that his grandmother was also Reformed. It was at this that he knew he was not alone in his beliefs and that there was even an African American Reformed movement. With this he made it an iniciative to join the African American Reformed movement in its goal to bring the doctrines of grace to the African American community and other communitites as well. After much prayer and consideration Scotty entered Bethel Theological Seminary, St Paul in 2005 to pursue a Master of Divinity. He hopes that after graduation he will enter the pastorate and pursue a Ph.D in History; through the pastorate and teaching in the secular realm Scotty hopes to continue to spread the word about the Reformed faith. La Couer Brulant is one of Scotty's means to get people aquainted with Reformed Theology by taking them step by step through the Doctrines of Grace. After going through the doctrines of grace, one will also look at the arguments against Reformed Theology and the counter-arguments against them. |

A Word From Scotty |
Hello, Many blessings to you and thank you for visiting La Couer Brulant. Like John Calvin I too offer God my heart promptly and sincerely, and one of my great passions is to spread the word about Reformed Theology. Regardless of whether you agree with Reformed theology or not, know that you get something from here. Like a man with a plate somebody fixed for him because he couldn't make it, you will always get something. A Dieu Soyez Glorie (To God be the Glory), Scotty J. Williams |
