"The plant is a geothermal plant," Ling says.
"Do you know what that means?" You shake your
head. "Okay," she explains, "what happens is,
they use the heat deep down in the volcano core to
make steam. The steam drives turbines, which
generate electricity. The plant itself is about half-
way up the volcano, next to a large artifical lake.
Water from the lake is drawn by gravity down into
the hot magma, then piped back up as steam."
"So what are you worried about?" you ask. "It
seems like an easy thing to blow up the pipes.
Then the plant would break down."
"Right," Ling says. "That's my idea too. The
problem is that the Omicron Masters have on
major weakness: They are overconfident. THey
are too sure of their power. They don't believe that
anything they can do can go wrong. So what worries
me is that they may not have thought of the pos-
sibility of sabotage- or even that machines can
break."
"Go on," you say, not at all liking what you are
hearing.
